MKV & Subtitles

Hello, I am new in this forum, I am using the micro DVI = HDMI cable to watch my movies, I was thinking to buy the new ATV, considering I have a lot of media ripped in MKV along with subs in .srt, I already tried to play with itunes and it did not work, so I am just double checking that itunes and ATV dont accept those formats so far without the hassle of reencoding them?

It doesn't accept MKV, for now only M4V, MOV, and MP4.

What about subs?...can I load .srt?

If you load them into the file using Handbrake you won't have a problem

Thanks, but using handbrake means I have to re encode all the movie right?...or is there a way to load into itunes..so you can stream the movie?

You're gonna have to re-encode it with handbrake in M4V to use the SRT
