MKVMerge help wanted

I have re-ripped all of my movies for the new aTV, except for Lord of the Rings extended edition. I just merged the 2 discs from Fellowship of the Ring using MKVMerge. Everything went well except for 2 things. 1) there are a few black frames between the 2 disc merge and 2) the Chapters are not numbered sequentially.

Does anyone have a recommendation on the best way to remove the black frames from the middle of the merge (using Mac) and to rename the Chapters so the numbers are sequential?

Before proceeding, make a copy of your file.

You could clip the files using MP4Tools and then re-merge them without needing to re-encode. I think extra tracks cause problems, so best to delete the chapter track as well as the subtitle tracks (if any are present) before attempting to clip out the black frames.

Once you have managed to clip the black frames and re-merged then it is time to add back the subs and re-ordered chapters. Open your file with Subler. Drag the original file (that I said to copy at the start of the post) into the track listing window, check only the chapter, sub tracks (do not reimport the video/audio). Once those have been saved into your file, click the chapter listing and edit the individual chapter names as you see fit. Save.

Now you can take the finished .mp4 and drop it back into a mkv.
