I'm currently trying to use MKVtools to convert a mkv file of an HD film into mp4. It progresses through Step 1 and Step 2 fine, but seems to just run forever after Step 2.

The activity menu in MKVtools says nothing but "Step 2 Done", but the activity window on the comp says "mp4box" is running and taking up all of the computer's resources.

I assume this is the muxing process when using MKVtools? It would be nice if there was a status or progress bar in MKVtools that showed you how long it would take to finish.

Any idea how long an average mux time would be for an HD film using MKVtools?

It shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Are the codecs inside compatible with an mp4? What are they and what settings are you using?

There's no progress bar, but it should indicate the progress in percent next to the step it's currently on.

It sounds like an old version of MKVtools. The current version is 2.4.4, and should have improved muxing, as well as % progress status.

It's on my to do list, but it's proving tricky with the limited time I currently have.

This would be epic. Id pay $100 for the app. Handbrake currently has SSA burn in though it shonky, fonts overlap and the timing is off all over the place making it pretty useless.

It is an older version, 2.2.6, as im still on this cursed powerpc and broke as a joke.
