The display mirroring is working fine but when I close my MBP and try to use my wireless trackpad and wireless keyboard my MBP goes to sleep. With Lion I could control my MBP with my trackpad and keyboard and it wouldnt go to sleep. Anyone else have this issue too?
Ill be honest the airplay mirroring is the main reason I bought ML. It better start working.....

It does work, but it wasn't designed to do what you're doing.

This only works with an actual external display, not airplay. If you don't have that, the mac goes to sleep when you close it.

Im sure they could make this work. When trackpad and keyboard are connected it should wake or keep the MBP from sleep. Not that hard Im assuming but Im no techie.

It'd require some serious tinkering. Once you close the macbook, the internal display disappears. So at that point there'd be nothing to mirror.

While surely they can disable that behaviour, I expect they won't because at that point more heat is being generated in the machine which can't be vented because it's closed.

Not true. MacBooks are designed to function in clamshell mode.

That makes sense but when you connect to an external display via cables dont people close their MB'S? maybe not always but...

Yes, with a disabled internal display. Set up your mac this way and see how the "Color LCD" is nowhere to be found in sysprefs.

No, I never do that. Why would I give up the extra screen?

Maybe Im missing the sarcasm..but to save screen life? Thats why I do it.

Also with Lion when I had it running in clamshell mode the MBP screen was def not running.

With Lion I was using the thunderbolt port to hdmi to my HDTV. I could close my MBP and control it with my TP and KB. I was hoping with ML I could use the airplay mirroring and ditch the cable....oh well maybe it will get worked out.

There is no sarcasm to miss. At home I always have a second screen connected to my mbp, and on the built-in one I can put stuff I want visible but not on my main screen.

At work I have an iMac with a second screen which I use for e-mail.

Screen life is not really much of an issue; the screen will outlast your computer even if you have it turned up to full brightness 24/7. This was only an issue with older CCFL-based screens. Now we have LED lighting.

Usually I leave the MacBook and external screen both active with the MacBook screen set to extend my desktop. Two screens are very nice.

OK gotcha guys thanks! That makes me feel better. Cool.
