Does anyone know when ML will show up on a new Mac purchased from the Apple store. I'm ready to purchase but would rather buy with a clean install instead of immediately upgrading even if it's for free.

have you been under a rock? It was release yesterday on the app store. I would imagine if you purchased a new mac you must have some sort of redeem code?
I don't want to redeem a code or perform an upgrade. I want to buy a new Mac and have ML on it already.
According to http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs/ , scroll down and find the software section, it says it comes with ML
If you have an Apple Store near you, buy it from there. They should be happy to help download/install Mountain Lion on it for you. Best Buy or one of the others may even provide this complimentary service.
It's unrealistic to think that all pre-boxed Macs would have it already pre-installed. Now, if you buy a boxed Mac in a month from now, then sure it may well have Mountain Lion pre-installed ... just as my new, boxed MacBook Pro had Lion pre-installed on it upon purchase at a non-Apple Store last August (a month after Lion had been released into the wild!).
