I have the GM version installed, however, when I load up MAS, it still shows up as $19.99 instead of installed; is this an indication that the two versions are not 100% identical?

They are identical (same build).

Though I am a developer, when I tried to purchase it, it said that I had already purchased it and downloaded on my second mac.

thanks for your helpful response
I guess I can't ask this question even though MAS isn't showing it as 'installed' like last year with lion.

Are you a registered developer? If not, it won't show as installed if you didn't pay for it.

For me, it shows as "Download" not "Installed." The reason is that I've run the installer, and it was automatically deleted from /Applications.

This is actually an improvement over the behavior in Lion, since you had to go through some contortions to download the installer again if you'd installed Lion already.

Same here ... Did I missed an info that dev's getting ML for free ? Ok, we pay for the program but I was not aware that this include OS X after launch. For Lion I had to pay; for ML not. Fine for me. :D

if you are a dev, you would know this answer.

Not so fast. This very question is still debated in the dev forums. The problem is that the build #'s are the same, but that does not guarantee that installing the GM is the same as the release. This same scenario happened last year with lion. Depending on which bundle you examine there can be discrepancies. Also, there could be different certificates associated with a developer build, which could certainly cause issues relating to sandbox and app integration, ubiquity, iCloud etc. If i'm not mistaken weren't there 2 subsequent releases of DP 4 with the same build number?

Lion was free for Mac Dev Program members when it released last July; no different from the ML release today. I'm sorry if you paid last year.

Having same issues as OP with running the GM. I was able to get the iWork and iPhoto/Movie updates no problem. So will I be able to get the 10.8.x updates through the MAS in the future?
