Do a main search on "How to install ML on a 1,1 or 2,1 Mac Pro. 1,1=2006 which is what you have. There is an in-depth discussion on how you can install ML on the 2006 Mac Pro. Google is your friend for this.

Or look at the other threads on the Mac Pro forum and it too will also be there. I must warn you though that you MUST follow the steps in the proper order to get ML installed on your system.

Something does not add up.. why ARE there other threads on the same topic!?!:apple:

Then why are there 3 other threads asking the same exact question?

Ok like I said my question was what will happen will it panic attack or will it damage something thats it I am not looking into installing ML to my machine I was just backing up my MBP and noticed it there as an option thats it

Ok, If I am understanding you correctly, you are trying to see if you select mountain lion as a start up disk will it crash or kernel panic. The answer is YES. It will panic, but it won't damage your system. If you decide to later install it then you will need to patch it so that the installer will work on your machine. But, no.. you won't damage your computer. Just hit option key and select your main system start up drive and you will be good to go.

Remember, Apple made it so that ML will not install on your machine, and its caused tremendous outcries against Apple on these forums, but no your machine will be fine.
