ML performance on late-2008 13" Macbook?

Hi everyone,

I've just gotten a late-2008 Macbook at a bargain. It has a 2GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM and an I will upgrade it to an Intel 320 40GB SSD later today.

Right now it runs Leopard, but I will install Snow Leopard with Trim enabler on the SSD when it arrives later today.

What would you recommend me? Should I just run with Snow Leopard, or will Mountain Lion run faster on this old machine? Is trim enabler and SL as good as native trim in ML?

The big question is: Should I use Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion!

I've got a 2008 MacBook unibody and it runs ML very smooth with a HDD and 4GB RAM. I dont know if ML is faster then Snow Leopard, but its definitely faster then Lion.

Yeah, I think I'll just have to install Snow Leopard clean, and test a few things, and then upgrade to ML when it arrives. And go back to SL if ML is too slow.

But would Trim enabler for SL work perfectly?

Off topic, but what did you get that MacBook for?

I got it for $411 USD, and it's in mint condition No scratches or wear on the keyboard. So that's pretty neat!

From what I've tested so far it runs very well. The only issue I've run into is the lack of ability to boot into 32-bit mode in a few applications.

so far so good on Macbook AL unibody late' 08 with 4G of ram.. however, no apps installed yet. I am going to install some big apps like photoshop, dreamweaver to see how it works

issues so far include:

airport turns off during sleep and when i try to restart it i get the beachball. same goes for all apps on right side of menu. restart fixes this.

i have a bluetooth mighty mouse and for some reason the entire screen becomes unresponsive and 'wobbles' left to right. swiping into dashboard and clicking on the background fixes this.

haven't noticed anything regarding heat or battery life yet.

With 8 gb of ram and a SSD, it'll probably be faster than the baseline macbook air.
