The season is over, the world series is over, so MBL.com at bat 2009 ($9.99) is free now.

If its like last year, it will be a completely new app for next season.

I got it for $5 during the playoffs.
So yea, what exactly happens for next year. There is a new app then, I guess ... and what happens to my app that I have now??

its an entire new app. Its basically a subscription for $10 a season. My guess is they might make the app free and take advantage of the in app purchase. That way they have one app and no need for a lite version.

It looks like they pushed an update that removed the "2009" from the title. This does seem to indicate they might be moving towards in-app purchases to get next year's content. It seems like a good solution to me since people that already have the app can be enticed to purchasing the update through the app itself. So they probably will get a higher upgrade ratio than making it a separate app.

Yes, definitely seems to make sense. Plus, you'd get a higher download rate if you just combined everything.

I don't know much about the new in-app purchasing, but I don't know how they will deal with an app like this in regards to 'Top Paid' or 'Top Grossing'
On the plus side, I guess you could upgrade from a Lite or Trial Version in-app and keep your data/info (which I don't think you can do now as it kicks you to the App Store to buy the separate app, and it doesn't transfer your data). right?
