As I not so patently wait for Apple to come out with the next gen of mini (Leopard, core 2 duo) wonder if the wired Mighty Mouse is worth it, I don't do anything that can use or needs 4 buttons why not a run of the mill $ 15.00 3 button Logitech ? (I plan on getting a genuine wired Apple keyboard but not sure about the mouse)

There is no need to buy Apple's Mighty Mouse. Any 3-button, scroll wheel mouse will work, as will simpler mice. They need to be USB though.

using the same logic, why spend $30 on a keyboard when there are cheaper solutions? is there anything special about the apple keyboard? honestly i've never used one, so i don't know.

It's funny I had a great bluetooth mouse from MacMice, the Mouse BT aluminum, matched the powerbook. When I got my Mini it didn't work well with it. Apple had no answer as to why, so I reluctantly bought a wireless MM. Now when I'm at work, I find myself trying to scroll 360 on my Dell mouse scrollwheel. Phunnie.:D

I've been using a wired mac keyboard for about a year now and find that they are very comfortable to use. i think it's to do with the shape of the keys

There is no need really for an expensive keyboard and mouse for the mini. I bought a cheap $30 wireless usb mouse and keyboard from walmart. The keyboard mostly stays under the couch. And all my remotes are black so the black mouse blends in well on my coffee table.

I came acrossed this the other day. It gives an alternative to the mighty mouse. It features the 4 way scrolling and its wireless.

I just saw also its 15.99 at amazon. It's the first one I have seen with the multiple scrolling feature.

A lot of mice these days have four way scrolling, especially microsoft and logitech mice :)

Nice feature to have I suppose, but if I'm honest I never, ever use it, at all.

While I really like my wired mighty mouse not being able to take it apart to clean the track ball is anoying. You can actually feel resistance and flat out chunks you have to work out to get it to work right sometimes.

Apple's solution is to turn it upside down and with a damp cloth rapidly work the track ball to get it clean....:(
