Hi folks,

I already own a mbp 15 inch base. However I've always been a desktop fan and I need a computer that it will stay always on(downloading and stuff) and I will use it for general tasks when I get bored to open my mbp :D Actually I always used to have a computer like this and my current needs are served by a pc which i am thinking to replace with a mac mini.

I can't say that I will stressed it to much as my needs are limited to programming (xcode) ,bootcamping in windows for using visual studio 2010, and playing football manager 2012 which it's more a cpu intensive game rather than gpu as I am aware. Besides that the important think is that the mini will drive two screens (samsung 19" with both dvi and vga inputs).

So what do you think guys? Go for the amd or the base mini will suffice my needs? Besides that I could always run "heavier" programs in my mbp .

Thanks in advance

I've got a Mini that I use as you do. I choose the base Mini because I use my MBP as a desktop replacement. Its hooked up to a large LCD, keyboard, mouse and other accessories.

If you don't plan on using your MBP as a desktop replacement, I think, the upgraded Mini would be a better choice. The graphics cards is becoming useful in more and more areas now.

But, they are both fine machines and I suppose you'd be happy with either one. I don't really think you can make a wrong choice here.
