My MMS is working without any modifications to my carrier file or iphone. I'm using 3.1 beta 3

can anyone else confirm it's working, I've tested sending to my iphone and an off carrier phone and it worked.

Wasn't able to receive an mms from the off carrier, but that could be latency.

It might be that AT&T has turned on MMS in your region.

I'm in florida (Tampa area)

Go figure. Florida region has had great AT&T coverage, like having the 850MHz band enabled for 3G since it's start.

i just sent one to my work email and received it just fine, but replying to the from address didn't work, seems like they haven't finished setting it all up.

was the from address correctly showing your phone number in there? or some random number?

I'm on 3.0.1 with the 3.1 carrier file. MMS is working. On my Wife's iPhone with 3.0.1 and the 5.0 carrier it just started working with out doing anything other than the carrier file, which we did when 3.0.1 dropped. It didn't work for the longest time, then just started working.

I was testing the 3.1 beta and MMS was working on it also

I'm in the metro-Atlanta area

So to me it sounds like your iPhone with the 3.1 carrier file can't send the MMS of course but is recieving them correct?

Then your phone with the 5.1 carrier file is able to send and recieve MMS with no issue correct?

If this is all correct basically what it means is AT&T removed the MMS block off your account.

I believe those with the 3.0 firmware and above can recieve MMS once the block is removed but needs the 5.0 and higher carrier files to be able to send and receive MMS.

No, actually both are sending and receiving. the 5.1 carrier has the tethering where the 4.5 doesn't. With the 4.5 carrier file I see more switching to edge( which I think is more realistic). The 5.1 never shows edge...just drops the data.

The only weird thing is that when I send a video message it leaves out the sound half the time.

are you on a family plan?

Well, Kevin R Raney of the Tampa, FL area...or should I say Clearwater area...between the age of 25-29...you should not divulge too much info about yourself on the internet like that.

I'm just south of the Skyway from you, and updated to the 5.1 carrier file, and it worked out of the gate. Didn't edit anything, didn't call AT&T, didn't switch a SIM in to another phone. Just started working.

Turns out a few of my friends send out MMS messages a lot more often than I thought.

im down in south florida, about 4 hours SE of Tampa.

after reading this i decided to give it a try and guess what?

using swirlymms2 and IT WORKS.....no update on carrier file, shows at ATT 4.0 in settings/about.

It took a few mins for it to go through though....however, it works....if you want me to post settings let me know, its posted around here somewhere on the forums. I used the guide here to get it working about a month ago.

CHEERS!!!!

here you go ...

MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
Proxy: 66.209.11.32
APN: wap.cingular
Username: wap@cingulargprs.com
Password: CINGULAR1

before i checked today, it would never give me the green icon, which means its connected. im hoping it stays like this, past the 25th....cause then i wouldnt really have to upgrade =-) unless you can jailbreak 3.1 right away.

Mine started working on the 4th. I heard the chime of a new message and when I looked I had received a photo. Since then I have been sending and receiving MMS.

If you want to send an MMS, you need to have to the MMS block on your account removed; that's usually done by adding a non-iPhone messaging plan.

are you sure that's all that's necessary? This is what my account looks like right now and the messages fail to send. It was working a couple days ago

OMG! How on earth did you ever find out personal information about me :( I can't believe that the Internet would ever be able to pinpoint a 4 year range that matches my age, or that you'd be able to some how google my name and figure out what city I'm in. I'm so frightened now that I'm finding it hard to sleep at night. You're not going to pay the extra 10 or 20 dollars on the generic public records search page to find out where I live and come steal my iPhone because it sends mms messages are you. Quivering with fear in Clearwater (I've already said too much) *if you read this in a serious tone, reread it with a scarcastic freightened tone and it'll be more enjoyable*

Lol, it's called EXIF data. It is widely suggested that you wipe it out from a picture before uploading it to the Internet.

In any case, why steal your iPhone when MMS will come the 25th...

Ditto. Seriously? Google my name and you will find me. I use my full name all over the internet.

Enough digging and I could probably relate anyone's username to their real name and find out all of the information I could want..
