I just updated my iPhone 3G the 3.0 GM, does anyone know how to enable MMS on it. I don't have a developer account that is paid anymore so I can't get the iTunes 8.2 pre-release download.

I have the data plan, being on AT&T I must have it, and I called AT&T last night. They enabled MMS on my account, which means when I get my iPhone 3G S it will be able to support MMS at launch,(I don't believe so) but I still need the carrier file that enables MMS for AT&T.

You can get the carrier update and instructions here: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2009/04/how_to_enable_mms_in_iphone_30_right_now-2/

what it doesn't mention, is that as of iTunes 8.2 final you no longer can manually apply ipcc updates! SO you need to downgrade to the 8.2 pre-release version, then apply the update.

I'm posting this from my phone, mms works great on AT&T if you do this.
Does anyone have the direct download link for iTunes 8.2 pre release?
I don't have a developers account anymore.

I told the AT&T rep. that I have the beta and "APPLE" said to enable MMS on the phone to remove the opt out MMS code from my account.

You can get the BETA of iTunes here..

What is waiting going to do? AT&T isn't going to be opening MMS to the general public for months.

To anyone who wants to get MMS enabled on your AT&T account: ...

1)Get a hold of (borrow, get your old one, etc) a non iPhone at&t phone that works with mms.
2)Put your iPhone's SIM card in that phone.
3) Wait about 3-10 minutes, maybe send a text message from the phone with your iPhones sim card in it.
4) Log onto wireless.att.com ... it should show whatever phone your sim is on as "your phone"
5) Go through, change your "iPhone Messaging Plan" to the standard "Unlimited messaging plan" and save it's the same price.
6) Send an MMS from the phone a couple of minutes later to yourself, if it sends then recieves it, swap SIM back to iPhone.

...

You now have MMS without calling apple. I did this many months ago for SwirlyMMS on my jailbroken phone, has worked since. Including now on 3.0 GM with the MMS ipcc hack.

And you can find many guides on these things, and the itunes pre-release version via google .. that's where I found all of this.
