Curious to know if anyone on AT&T has been able to get MMS to work on the 2G iPhone.

No, and in the other two or three threads on this topic the answer is the same for everyone that replied.

nope. i jailbroke my 2G and got "activatemms2g" thru cydia. the software was all set up for mms (the camera icon, the mms settings - everything) but could never send/receive...just got the red "!''. i'm sure it's an at&t network thing. rumor is the network knows when a 2G tries to send an mms because of the IMEI# on the SIM and wont allow it. we need some kind of hack where the network thinks the phone is a 3G/3GS...

This is the exact issue because I did the 2G hack to get mms and put a friends AT&T sim in my 2G and it was able to send and receive MMS with know problem but since I have a 2G plan it doesnt work for me. I even tried to from a 3GS and it still doesnt work, so it is a sim issue, at&t has disabled mms for 2G plan owners because the 2g is capable of sending and receiving MMS I've seen it for myself.

I don't believe that either of your rumors are true. I have a 2g iphone and currently have mms working through activatemms2g and on AT&T. I used mms yesterday when a fraternity brother just bought his 3g and sent me a picture as a test. I'm still running 3.0 and my carrier settings are as follows:
MMS:
APN: wap.cingular
Username:
Password:
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Mac Message Size:
MMS UA Prof URL:

Are you on a family plan? I think the problem is when users on individual plans attempt to use MMS. Their accounts have MMS disabled. If you're on a family plan though, they can't disable MMS for one number without disabling it for the entire account, so they leave it working.

I'm on a family plan with unlimited texting. A 2g, 3g, Sony w580i and a nokia 6790. All but the 2g get MMS. I did jailbrake the 2g and patched it with the activemms2g patch to no avail. When we added the txt family plan, the 2g stopped receiving the MMS notifications to view the message at viewmymessage.com When I spoke to ATT tech support not customer service, they told me the only way to activate it back was to remove the phone from the family plan. This whole thing is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I think the Apple kool-aid is getting sour.

What is the version of the OS and carrier file you are using?

Thanks,
