Ok. So there are two apps on the app store right now. One called fetch mms and one that used to be called fetch.. but is now fetch my mms. I downloaded both of them and the fetch my mms app doesn't work very well. It always messes up the numbers in the boxes. Fetch MMS however lets you send MMS on your iphone. I have sent about 10 messages so far and it works great! I used to use the Swirly mms app on my old 2g jailbroken phone but it stopped working. I just wanted to let everyone know that mms messaging has finally hit the app store. www.fetchmms.com

On a side note.. If any developers are out there, can you please sit down with att and get an mms app made by apple? WHy is this so hard! Don't get me wrong I like the fetch mms app but it only sends. I want an app that sends and receives. Guess i can't have both lol :)

From the FetchMMS Website said:
The current iPhone software does not allow for MMS sending and receiving. This application uploads the image to our servers and OUR SERVERS send the message to your recipient. This application does NOT allow you to receive MMS messages on your device.

Note: Emphasis mine.

The software allows you to send which can be done via an email to MMS gateway for most carriers in the USA.

Correct. This developer is just robbing you of your money. You can already do what this app does for free. A quick Google search of "sending MMS from iPhone" will show you how to do this.

Hey, guys. I'm one of the developers of Fetch My MMS. A user pointed me to this thread (don't know if one of you is him), so I thought I'd chime in.

Name similarities aside, FetchMMS and Fetch My MMS are two very different apps.

FetchMMS (not our app) is an app for sending MMS messages.

Our app, Fetch My MMS, is exactly what it sounds like: It simplifies the process of downloading your images from ViewMyMessage.com (and keeps them organized once you've downloaded them). Basically, you take a screenshot of the "I've sent you a multimedia message" text that you get, and load it up in Fetch, then Fetch reads the MSG ID and password, and goes to AT&T's server to download your message.

The character recognition code that reads the MSG ID and password from your screenshot isn't perfect (most OCR software is made for reading hi-res scans, not tiny little iPhone screens, unfortunately), but it does a pretty good job (80-90% most of the time, and 100% enough of the time that I leave it enable), and if it does miss a couple of characters, you can easily edit them manually.

Right now, the biggest hang-up in our app (Fetch My MMS) is that it still relies on AT&T's viewmymessage.com server. Since their server is unstable on a good day, those same instabilities show through in our app, too, which is unfortunate, but unavoidable, I'm afraid.

There's a demo video of Fetch My MMS on our site: http://phase2games.com/fetch

If anyone has any issues or questions, please feel free to contact us at support@phase2games.com

Thanks!

I've used your application and it doesn't work. You can't blame your lame programming skills on viewmymessage.com. Regardless of what anyone here says I have had no problem with your competitor fetch mms. I have had problems with your application and the fact that you are scouring the web for your competitors keywords tells me that you are just trying to spam this forum. Shame on you.

I don't believe he has any competitor that enables you to see MMSs sent to you. That other one, called FetchMMS is only for sending MMS, not for viewing them (it's actually quite the misnomer). If there is another app that allows you to view MMS sent to you (through AT&T network), please enlighten us.

He mentioned nothing derogatory of FetchMMS. And while describing what FetchMMS actually does, he stated an issue with the app he helps develop. From what I gathered, AT&T's viewmymessage server is the basis of Fetch My MMS, by relying on it. How is this blaming them for his lack of programming skills? :D My guess is the problems you had are the problems he mentioned one may have. Just a hunch.

And scouring for competitors? Hows 'bout scouring for his own app? You mentioned his own as well. :D "fetch my mms app doesn't work very well" Dood was just helping out by giving an explanation.

At any rate, his comments in this thread has led me to looking into Fetch My MMS, and I hadn't even tried any third party MMS apps.

Ya win some, ya lose some rootyb. ;)

There's so much wrong with this post, I hardly know where to begin.

First, if you're having problems with the app, email support. That's what we're there for. We pride ourselves on providing absolutely *stellar* support, and usually respond to inquiries in minutes, not days like some developers.

What exactly doesn't work? We've done a *lot* of testing, and have yet to find an error, crash, or bug that isn't directly related to ViewMyMessage.com. So, if you've found one (or more), we'd definitely love to hear about it, so that we can fix them.

The fact of the matter is, we can't fetch an image from ViewMyMessage if VMM isn't up, or isn't showing the message at all. You can't get blood from a stone, and sometimes, you just can't get a message from VMM. Usually, if you wait a little while, it'll work.

lol, indeed.

Thanks, severe. I guess it's a good thing developers can't reply to reviewers on iTunes, or I'd have (in a moment of weakness) ripped into a couple by now.

Also, everyone remember when you're reviewing apps via the App Store on your device: It defaults to one star. If you want to give it more than that, make sure you do so before you submit. ;)

We've had more than one extremely positive review with only one star. :(

Good job Rootyb, I can appreciate you coming up with something to help the iPhone community. Last night, I received 2 pics and I went to viewmymessage.com. Keep in mind, I went to my pc because doing it from the phone alone is just ridiculous (trying to memorize the codes). Do you know that it took me 12 trys to get one of the pics. I entered in the same code over and over and over and finally, for no reason, it worked on the 12th time.

I read the reviews to your app and I am willing to try it out. The only drawback is you list it at $4.99. I wouldn't mind paying it but according to the reviews, I am hesitant. Have you thought about releasing a Lite version for free?

Honestly, this is the best $4.99 I've spent. I get a lot of MMS images, and this has been a life saver. The OCR has never been 100% for me yet, but as stated, It's very easy to fix the mistake, and download the photo right to the phone. 1000 times better then then going to the viewmymessage website.

Thanks Daremo! We're pretty happy with it. ;)

Carence, unfortunately, our app won't help with having to re-enter the code, since our app just automates the "logging into viewmymessage" process, so it's subject to the same server instability (the main problem we see is that new messages aren't always available right away).

Check your PMs, though. :)

/edit: Guess I can't send PMs?

Carence, shoot me an email at justin@phase2games.com, and I'll get you a promo code to try out the app.

More High Praise for Fetch
Bought it 4 days ago, and have used it extensively since. Sure, sometimes viewmymessage is slow but nothing beats actually getting MMS on the phone without pen and paper.
