MMS only shows for a split second - then disappears

When I receive an MMS it only shows for a split second - the turns into an empty speech bubble in the "conversation"

Anyone know what is wrong?

I have never had this problem before tonight - usually sends MMS every day.

iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1.2. I have tried to reset the phone - problem still exists...
