When I send an MMS message to other iPhone users it takes about 30 minutes to go through. When I send an MMS to others, like my father on US Cellular or my father in law (on AT&T with a Nokia) it takes several hours. I sent my dad a pic last night about 6:30 p.m. but he didn't get it until about 3:00 a.m. Anybody else getting this?

Hmmm, doesn't seem worthwhile to me. I was excited about MMS but now I think I'll just stick to emailing photos and videos.

Thanks everybody. Maybe it's just the area I live in...everybody jamming up the network with MMS after MMS.

Nope. The worst I had it get was this afternoon, when it took about 5-7 minutes to send to a friend's BB (also on AT&T), but she lives in a crap coverage area (and I was sitting next to her when I sent it). Other than that, regardless of phone type or network, the most it's taken is 30 seconds or so.

No problems sending pics to a Verizon phone. The actually message takes about 30 seconds be sent, but my friend received it within seconds.

here what i found: I just got an iphone again and still have my verizon bb curve...and i ve been testing messaging back and forth between the two:

When i send from att iphone to verizon, it takes about 15 to 20 seconds

when i send from vzw bb to iphone.....i sent three pics, still have not received them on the iphone , it been about a 1/2 hour. BB states the message has been delivered(check mark w/ D).

Texting is the same on both phones. I did these tests because when i had my last iphone sometimes i would not receive texts for hours at a time. does anyone else every have this problem with att?

EDIT/UPDATE - Just noticed that this was an issue with my vzw bb. Anytime i would send the message from a the bb where the message was stored on my memory card it would not go through, only images stored in the device memory would be sent....odd?

so my as of now my iphone mms is working well.

Sent three to a friend yesterday, she got the first 10 minutes later, the second came in 7 hours later, and the third came in 6 hours later. Out of order.

I wasn't expecting it to be reliable on the first day, though.

haha...I just got att's message they supposedly sent :)rolleyes:) out Friday at 10 am., today.

I grinned a little when it came. :D

at least it works for you guys... I've been reading all the possible solutions on here on how to get it working and it still doesn't. AT&T reps can't help me and they are referring me to Apple tomorrow... blah.

did you try the hack ot the actual download from itunes?

I don't like doing hacks or jailbreaking or anything like that. I trust that here's some sort of solution without having to hack. and if there isn't, then I expect them to give me a new phone...

when you open up Messaging do you get the camera in the lower left?

If you just installed the ipcc it may actually take a while for the servers to pick up your MMS settings.

No, you got it when they sent it. They didn't send it to everyone at 10 am. They rolled it out over 2 days. The txt message meant nothing except to notify everyone of the feature.

I'm guessing that AT&T's servers are buffering the messages to prevent from overloading the network. When you send an MMS photo, it goes to AT&T, is stored temporarily on a server until network bandwidth is more available and then it sends the messages that it has stored up. This prevents the network from crashing. Just a guess, but this is generally the way computer servers work.

I think it's AT&T's problem. Also, MMS has never worked well cross-carrier. I have a lot of messages that I have to resend 3-6 times before they go through, but once they go through, the recipient gets it almost immediately (3G). I'm not sure about going to other carriers, though, because I mostly text people within my carrier.

Took about 6 hours to send 1 mms and I'm getting dropped calls like never before:mad: I don't know why at&t pulled the tirgger on mms when clearly their network couldn't handle it?

These editable settings went away with the official 5.5 IPCC file. 5.1 and 5.2 had them.

Please note this was a one time spike in the insane demand of MMS. After this weekend it is a better judge. It is unreasonable to expect ATT have to pay for all everything to handle a one time spike.
