MMS: unrecognized "From" number from known contact

I have a very weird problem here.

I just received three MMS from someone who is in my address book. (I know it's from this person because she had just called me and told me she's sending me three pictures). I have received SMS/MMS from her before and it always worked as it should.

All three messages that I just received displayed a From number that is not recognized. I tried calling one of them, to see what would happen, and a real liver person answered. I didn't know what to say, so I just told him I have the wrong number.

She says she definitely used her own phone to message me. What is going on?

I searched the Apple forums, and there seems to be a small number of people with the same issue.

Anyone here having this problem?

Have you used google voice at all to sms her? I used google voice to txt my wife, when she responded, it came from a different number, one I've never seen.

Hm. You may be on to something.

I didn't use Google Voice, but for the first time today, I used iChat (with a mobileme user name) to SMS her earlier this morning.

Was the issue eventually solved, or does it still come from a different number when your wife messages you?

Different number on top, hers shows up within the messages.

I see. That's a problem.

Just called AT&T. They told me there's no problem on their end even though they were able to confirm that my wife sent me three messages from her phone to mine, and that those same mesages show up as being sent from different numbers on my phone. AT&T thinks that's not their problem.
