Hi.. so the US market will be getting a mmWave enabled iPhone while the rest of the world will be getting the normal 5G bandwidth.. Am thinking of ordering the US model to just have that bandwidth in case they offer it in the future (They say it will be ready at the end of 2020 I mean the mmWave here in the UAE/Dubai).. is it a bad idea or I should get the normal model?

I planned to order it in US, to get mmWave, but I'm not sure it would be compatible with UAE mmWave frequencies.
For example, the mmWave pilot that Du launched in Yas Marina, is using 26Ghz frequency; while reading the technical specs of iPhone 12 on US Apple website, it shows they are compatible with n260 (39 GHz) and n261 (28 GHz).
So I'm not sure if they will work with Etisalat or Du mmWave frequencies :(

You should carefully check if the US model supports the LTE and 5G (both sub-6 and mmWave) bands used in your country. Potentially losing coverage for something that may or may not bring you any advantage in the future doesn't seem like a good deal.

The U.S. model supports 28GHz and 39GHz mmWave. The UAE uses 26GHz. So it's not worth it.

Europe has also picked 26GHz.

So the US model will not be compatible with our offered frequency :(

Unfortunately no.. the difference between mmWave & the normal 5G bandwidth (Sub- 6GHz) is big.. here’s a link explaining how: https://www.macrumors.com/guide/mmwave-vs-sub-6ghz-5g/

Ehem.. as per your link says:

Do I Need the mmWave 5G Connectivity?
In a nutshell, no, most people don't need mmWave connectivity, nor will most people even access to it on a regular basis for the next several years to come.

How were you planning to order it though? I am
Thinking of doing the same and I’m based in the UK. US is closed because of COVID-19 so can’t travel there. Can’t order to an address outside the US. And you can’t use a foreign credit card in American online Apple Store. How do you order it then?

I do have some friends who are in the US.. so they can just forward the package here :)

Btw am thinking of getting the normal one (sub-6) so next year when the new 120hz mmWave iPhone comes out I can easily trade it knowing I didn’t spend alot on shipping & import tax🤞🏻

It's very simple, open a mailbox in US states at 0 taxes (e.g. Oregon). Try websites like Shipito or USA2ME

Sounds to me like if you update your phone every 1-2 years, MMWAVE will be important in 2 years. So not so important to worry about which frequency your phone is missing at this stage? Any other thoughts on this as I have the same concern. I have a A2407 / A2411 model.
