I recall reading somewhere that now the M series chips are being used in Apple’s mobile devices (iPads) as well as desktops (laptops, iMacs and Macs) it would be possible to mount apps for iPhone and iPad onto Mac desktops.

Did I recall that right? And has anyone actually done it?

Many iPhone and iPad apps could technically run on ARM Macs, too, however not all developers allow you to install and run their iPhone and iPad apps on the Mac. Some applications do allow it, you'll have to check on a case-by-case basis.

I don’t go the the AppStore that often, but my impression is that if I do so from my iMac it will show me the apps that could install on the Mac. If I go to the AppStore on my iPad or iPhone it shows the apos available for them. I’m assuming the AppStore somehow detects what kind of device you’re on.

If thats indeed the case than any mobile app than can be installed on a Mac desktop should show up as available when visiting the store on your Mac.

No?

The only way that I tried was open the App Store on the Mac, click on your name in the bottom left corner. When looking at your "Purchased" items you can select between "Mac Apps" and "iPhone & iPad Apps".
