I know this is a silly question...

Am getting nMP with 500 gb storage.

Will use 3 x 3tb G Drives thunderbolt for external storage for photography.

is getting 2 x 2tb g-drives overkill for TM back up of internal drive?

Or do you think its better to get 2 x 1tb G-mobile thunderbolt drives instead?

Or just cut costs and get 2 x 1tb G-mobile USB 3 as they are even cheaper?

Anyone else using G-Mobile for nMP internal back up?

just can't get my head around putting large $ into nMP and yet using G-mobile's to back up :)

If you are only backing up the 500GB internal, there is no need for larger than the 1TB you mentioned. I also would not spend the extra money for TB for a backup drive. USB3 is plenty fast enough for that. Just get whatever brand USB3 external you like. They are all very similar except for pretty case designs.

Thats a lot of boxes / cables.

Why not just get a 4-bay JBOD enclosure (TB or USB3) and use one bay for backup drive (with the other three for you photo work). Buy an extra bare drive and swap it every week or so to give you the option to stash an offsite backup. Drives are cheap, so plenty of room to backup your 500GB SSD and selected files from your other volumes.....

thanks...makes sense.

as someone who doesn't understand the tech side much its always tempting to throw unnecessary $ at the latest and highest spec when something much cheaper is more suitable...
