I've seen people around here deliberating on the tiniest tech facts but when something like desktop gpus inside laptops become reality, you couldn't care less?

A lot of us care. My comment earlier was a sarcastic remark to the way Apple makes their computers and products nowadays. It's a sad reality. There's no hint/indication of Nvidia support in next gen MacBook Pro.

A workaround is building an eGPU which maybe an option Apple considers.

Don't see Apple ever going that route. The example you shown weighs a whopping 12.5 pounds, more than a nMP. Tethering yourself to a wall socket.

Apple's not in the market for gaming systems... If they were, u would see top of the line GPU's u can get on PC's for much the same price tag..

Although 3D games do tun on Mac's.. I dunno why so many people want a gaming specific Apple Mac per say... Its not meant for gaming... you get a PC for that hardcore geeks..

It's like saying "I'll buy a top pf the line PC gaming system, but never play games, I'll only use it for work related stuff"

I see it as not a "thing of the past" because Apple never was there i the first place with desktops not tablets... (faster/better) in most cases... but it's a different direction.

Apple has little interest in gaming GPUs, and they have a long and illustrious history either underclocking the GPU or undersizing them.

Yes, Apple will continue to make their laptops thinner and thinner, but it won't include the fastest (or any gaming) GPU

I heard somewhere Apple is going to go back to the Rage 128 because they can fit the whole card on the keycap.

That joke isn't fair to the Rage 128...it is probably much better than the Intel rubbish in the MacBook now.

In terms of MacBooks since the TDPs are actually higher for Pascal laptop cards (although this might not be true for the lower end cards) so there wouldn't be a suitable option for any MacBooks.

However, if Apple stuck with Nvidia, we would be seeing desktop cards in the next iMacs.

The 14" Razer Blade can handle a 1060, so they could go even thinner with something like a 1050.

The Razer Blade is supposed to get a GTX 1060 this year. It also has a 3200x1800 screen, and somehow is the same thickness as a retina macbook pro. MSI is also making a GTX 1060 laptop that's even thinner (although by a piece of paper, maybe lol).

They don't challenge themselves as much and now wait until the technology allows them to go thinner (e.g. Core M, battery technology, etc.).

Having said that, the reason Apple don't do the same as others with GPUs or more powerful CPUs is because they want to prioritize battery life. The Blade, for example, is estimated to get around 6 hours without GPU usage, while MacBooks get several hours more. I'm hoping that changes soon as they reach the 10-12 hour mark with all their notebooks.

Even games today specifically tailored only for certain chipsets that would work on a PC, can still be run on Mac with WINE for example as a go around.

I have several NFS games ported from PC .. Runs great. Even Skyrim run just as good
