Mobile me erased my contacts not once, but twice. When I cancelled my account I ended up being charged $99 two different times. They credited
my account, but it was a big hassle.

Now I get pop up on occasion to try mobileme. I wouldn't use it if it were
FREE!

Thats unfortunate. Of course, your experience in no way reflects how MobileMe actually works. It just describes what happened to you.

Angry customers have a tendency to blame everything on the big scary company that tried to screw them, but the fact is you made a mistake that caused all of that to happen. It was not MobileMe behaving as usual that deleted your contacts (from WHERE? Address Book?? Not possible) twice, and charged you twice.
Do you believe Apple tries to sell you a subscription to something that deletes your info and over charges you?

Lots of confused and angry clicking is what caused it. Unfortunately.
