Ok so this Mobile Me thing was pretty awesome when I had it in the past. I loved being able to get my bookmarks in an IM box when it was .mac, which I understand is no longer a feature. I have one Macbook computer at home & a PC at work (which blocks from using Me.com because it defaults to the mail tab upon login and webmails are blocked). I don't have an iPhone either. (I've got a BB Curve, which I'd love to swap out for an iPhone)

So I already activated my new Mobile Me membership, however now I'm stumped as to the benefits for me? This is by no means a 'bash Mobile Me, it's useless' thread....this is more of a 'help me find a beneficial use for it since I've already paid for it' kinda thing.

I tried the file sharing to family, but they never got the email that mobile me sent, even though it showed it was in my sent box. (yes the address was correct) so I had to move the file from my documents folder to my public folder and have them get it that way. Is this normal?

ok so lets go about this a different direction. What WOULD make mobile me beneficial? Assuming that I have only one Mac, did I waste my money?

It's just a very strange question. You paid money for a product and are now asking people what to do with said product or if it was worth it? Only you can answer that.

Do you use what's here? If yes keep it, if no get rid. Simple :)

On a single PC not much but on a single Mac you can do a lot with MM. Here's some examples that make it totally worth it. I just hope you bought it from Ebay, I just renewed my subscription through Ebay for only $45.00.

Contacts and calendars. If you need to reformat your computer or have HDD issues this is a plus. MM keeps your contacts and calendars in tact. When you reinstall OS X it will download your contacts and calendars back to your Mac.

iPhoto. You can do all your desktop publishing right from your Mac desktop. Order prints, cards, Photobooks and upload pics to Facebook, Flickr.

iDisk. You can keep a local iDisk on your desktop so when you have no internet access you can still access your online files from your local drive. That's a feature that those online storage sites don't offer.

Share files. Now that this feature was restored you can simply email someone a link to your files that you want to share with them, especially if it's a big file.

Now, I use every one of these features because I have a business but I've been using Mobileme since it was known as iTools and it was free.

Talk about perfect timing...you were right and I found my use for it yesterday :D

I upgraded from a 2GHz CD to a 2.2 C2D. After redownloading my frequently used programs (adium, perian, flip4mac, etc) I had to set up my gmail in Mail. Luckily, I had sync'd my mailbox and preferences, so it merged with my computer and VIOLA! No need to set it up :) Same went for my bookmarks....talk about perfect timing!
