Mobile Me - iDisk & ME

First I am not even sure I know what Mobile Me does except it does keep my calendars in sync. I use Time Machine, so I assume that makes me a proud idisk user. Fine.

What I want to do is upload various "things" to my iphone - mostly grandkid pictures. Beginning with iPhoto - which is the single most unmanageable program I have used - how in whoever's name do I get this to the iPhone?

The Mobile Me site may as well not exist. I get the little box with the UP arrow - say Ready to Upload. Upload What?

My actually find myself longing for the Window's days.

You don't need MobileMe to upload photo's to your iPhone.

Connect your iPhone to your computer, then in iTunes, click on your phone, select the Photos tab and then choose which photos you want to upload to your iPhone.

open up app on phone

MobileMe is ideal for keeping multiple Mac's (and your iPhone) in sync (except for Photos and Music). It's remarkably effective and as far as I know there is no equivalent in the Windows world.

MobileMe will sync
- Mail
- Calendars
- Documents (via iDisk)
- Safari Bookmarks
- Keychains

The controls for this on your Mac are in your preferences pane.

To sync photos with your iPhone, use iTunes and setup your sync preferences for your iPhone as someone else suggested above... just the same as you would to sync music with your iPod/iPhone.

To sync photos between multiple Macs, use iPhoto Library Manager. Hopefully this will be in the next version of iLife.

To sync music between multiple Macs, use the latest iTunes version to keep your music libraries the same across various machines.

Hopefully the next version of OSX will implement a more seamless sync of photos and music, but that's a lot of data to move around so I can see why it's not there yet.

In iPhoto, create a new album for pictures you want to sync to your phone by going to File, New Album, name it what you like (see "for the iPhone" in my example below). Now, drag the pictures you want on your phone from the right hand side onto this album on the left. Close iPhoto.

Now, in iTunes, connect your phone so it shows up on the left, click on it, go to the Photos tab, click "Selected Albums..", then check the box in front of your new album below. Now sync your iPhone. Your pics will now be in your photo library on your phone. To add more pics, simply add them to this Album in iPhoto and re-sync your iPhone. They'll automatically be copied to the phone, since they're part of the album.

As stated above, MobileMe has nothing to do with having pics on your phone, nor does iDisk or Time Machine. If you want to access other types of files (like PDFs, etc), then you could put them on your iDisk, and install the iDisk app from the app store; that will let you see the files you put on your idisk and open them on your phone.

Hello out there!
I have a question. When I forward an email from my "me.com" account that I accessed from another mac computer will that computer keep a record in the hard drive of that email? I tried to locate my forwarded emails and I only found sent and inbox. Is there a deleted file somewhere on my computers hard drive?
