Mobile Me sucks beyond sucking

so here's my situation... Used to if I was traveling overseas and wanted to check my hotmail... no problem. But now, if I choose to 'simplify' things, as the marketing machine at Apple claimed I'd be able to do by using Mobile Me, I would go to me.com to get my emails. Except, if I reply to an email that's been forwarded to my me.com from my hotmail account... the Reply From: will be listed as the me.com email account - confusing the he** out of whoever just sent me an email.

And yes I could just sign on to hotmail and respond to the email from there, except that may take some time because my inbox now has about a thousand new emails in it since I chose to leave everything on the server when I had it forwarded to me.com.


And what about the iphone? In order to jerry rig everything so that I can respond to emails from an account other than @me.com, I had to go ahead and actually set up those email accounts on the iphone. And since I didn't want a ton of duplicate emails on the iphone I changed the incoming server for those other accounts to something inaccurate so I wouldn't receive them. But now my iphone is slow and hanging up because it keeps trying to check those other email accounts with inaccurate incoming servers.

I have the same problem. I hate it when people reply to my @me.com e-mail address.

Also, the Mobile Me webmail is so worthless I can't even put it in words. I have never been forced to rewrite so many e-mails before. It just stops working and I have to reload the entire webmail. If it loses contact, I can't send the e-mail, I have to frickin' restart everything. I hate it so much.

Thats because you are basically forwarding your hotmail emails to your MM account. It would would the same with any client. The only way to actually send and receive is to use something like outlook or apple mail.

The iPhone mailing system does suck if you don't have mobile me. I'll agree there.

I have the same problem. I hate it when people reply to my @me.com e-mail address.

Use your aliases.

I like it mainly for the contacts and bookmarks. Its better then when it started!

I've read in a lot of posts about using a fake incoming mail server on the iphone "other' account (the one you want to send from) in order to stop duplicate messages.

Not sure if I'm missing something here but I don't seem to get duplicate messages even though I am using the real incoming mail server details from my pop account.

I have set up my pop account (me@mydomain.com) so that it forwards to me@me.com - therefore the mails are immediately forwarded to me@me.com and are not stored on the me@mydomain server at all - therefore there are no duplicates.

I'm a bit confused - Do some forwarding methods keep mails on the original server and others not??

I signed up to mobile me yesterday and while some things are great, some thing definitely do suck...I'm going to make a new thread about my experiences...

It depends on the type of email account you are using. With gmail you can forward and have it archive the original so it won't show as a duplicate. With some ISPs you can forward and have it delete the original and with @yourdomain depending on your host/server and forwarding method you may just send a duplicate to your @me address and original still remains in your email inbox for @yourdomain.
