I just got Mobile me(trial) and I've tried emailing myself from hotmail to Mobile me, and I have the account attached to my iPhone 3G, but for some reason it won't push it. I have my Mail.app on my Mac check for mail every minute, so that gets it, but why won't it push to my iPhone? Also, is it supposed to "Push" to the Mac's mail, or is that only for the iPhone?

Asides from this issue, Mobile me is actually really, really, cool. Oh yeah, except for iDisk being slow to upload on.

I use Outlook (like your Mail.app) and my mail is pretty much instant Push.

As far as Push to your iPhone. Many have reported problems like yourself. Other like me have very few problems. Meaning Push works quite well. You should double check your setting. Maybe search this forum for details. If you go into the Inbox on your iPhone does it Pull your email at that time? If so, and your settings are correct, I would probably just give it a day or so to make your accout is setup properly with the MobileMe Servers. Not really sure about that but since quit a few report problems in the beginning there could be an initial setup issue on the server side.

Good Luck. I think you will be happy if and when it starts working for you.

I started using MM when it first came out and push has been up and down like a toilet seat!

You'll have to bare with it for who knows how long. It taking Apple awhile to sort things out. At least they've extended the MM trial a few months.

I am using MobileMe with PUSH set ON & Fetch set OFF on the iPhone 3G since it was released. 50% of the time mail doesn’t get PUSHED to the phone UNLESS I click on the MAIL ICON. Once I am in the MAIL APP emails start coming in. I have deleted and reinstalled the MobileMe account 6 times already yet still half the time I am not receiving email unless I actually go into the MAIL APP. The mail is on the MobileMe WEB APP immediately when I look on my PC but getting it pushed to the iPhone is the problem.

My push originally wasn't working so I left it for a week and tried it last night. It's now working flawlessly, but in order to get it going I had to turn push on, and then turn the phone off and on again. Try doing that (on and off) if you haven't already.

Ah, sadly that doesn't work for me. Usually, contacts and calenders work fine now, but Mail has still NEVER worked for me. I've even went through the Mobile Me chat and they told me that after much troubleshooting they'd report the symptom and hopefully have a solution soon. Calenders and contacts don't exactly "push" either. They show up after about 10 minutes.

Mobile Me has truly been one of Apple's worst moves. It was a fantastic idea, but an ambitious idea. Unfortunately, so far, Apple has been doing a terrible job.

I'm in the same position, calenders, contacts seem to update alright, email is a different story. When I restart the phone the push email seems to work temporarily then after a while I only get my mail when I click on the mail app on the phone. Even though it shows I have a new email on my mail app on my actual computer.

That's my problem as well. I tried the suggestion to turn it off then on and it worked for about 30 minutes. After that, I was getting emails on my Mac (only because it is set to fetch every 1 minute) but nothing is going to the iPhone. If I go into my Mail.app on the iPhone, it gets the emails.

I'm starting to get frustrated with this. I cruised through the MobileMe release and hoped it would smooth out but it seems to be getting worse. I don't want to keep getting free extensions, either. If thats the case, I'll go back to Gmail.

Just posted in the iPhone forum about this as my push email isn't working and hasn't been for about a week now. I've tried a restore and also powering on/off when the problem occurs.

I just upgraded to iPhone 3G and I have to say I feel like I am not getting Mail Notifications, and push seems to be spoty. I was just trying on me.com to add something to my iCal then went into my phone and it wasn't there. tried closing and reopening the app didn't help. I did it from my phone and it got there to .me when i went from cal to mail and back it was there but I couldn't delete it from .me and have it delete off the phone maybe i didn't wait long enough for "Push" technology to work

Apparently, it doesn't push, but rather "syncs" every 15 minutes. I can see on my Mac at the top there are 2 arrows at the top and when they're rotating, it's syncing. It's not push. It's sync. Unfortunately, my Mail will never sync to my iPhone 3G unless I click check for mail.

not syncing

Mail is not syncing (updating) to my iphone from my mac, even when it does a sync. My phone is still showing emails I deleted hours ago. This has been going on for several days. Very frustrating.

1. This is not what you said but there is a well known bug where you delete files on your iPhone but they are not deleted on MobileMe (ever) until you actually delete one on MobileMe or delete them in your mail app.

2. So you deleted the mail on your mac. Did you check the MobileMe Web Client to verify that they were delete in the Cloud. Technically the iPhone Sync's with the MobileMe Cloud and not the Mac. So you should always check the MM Web Client to determine where the problem is.

3. Verify the following instructions to see if you are set up correctly.
http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/iphone/mac.html

Push contacts and calendar works fine.

Email however does not; I stopped using my me.com account.

My push from Mail2Web works much better, its instant and reliable.

The me.com would work, then it wouldnt. Then I would turn my phone on in the morning and I would have 3 messages in my inbox (on my comp) and nothing in my phone until I would click on the mail icon (this is not push).

I spoke to Daren G on mobileMe support and he recommended trying this:

1.) Push the Home button on the iPhone.

2.) From the Home menu tap the Settings icon and then select Fetch data.

3.) Toggle Push to off and Power cycle the phone(power off iPhone for 30seconds to a minute. Then turn the phone back on.)

4.) When at the Home menu tap Settings, then select Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. From here select the Mobile Me account. At the very bottom go ahead and delete the Account.

5.) Add the account back to the iPhone. Make sure to use "@me.com" and then from the Home screen select Settings and then Fetch new data. Turn the option for Push back on and power cycle the phone once again.

6.) When the iPhone starts back up, send test email to yourself. It can take a few minutes to arrive. Once it does, go ahead and send another test email and it should almost be instantaneous.

Once you have verified this, go ahead and delete the email messages you sent from the iPhone. If you are logged into http://www.me.com, please sign out while you delete the email messages on the iPhone. You should then log back in to see if the email messages are still there.

Im trying it now i'll let you all know if it works....

-- while you delete the email messages on the iPhone --

I wish you luck. Since Push works for most people I would expect resetting the iPhone and the Account Settings might help. But the part about deleting email on the phone and expecting them to be deleted on MobileMe will not happen since it is a well known bug. Since he does not know that, maybe not so well known at Apple.

Dont like the sound of this one, Does this mean that people who where .Mac subscribers and then later get a fault get told tough, you now have to use the @me.com address or it wont work
