Because MF2 is a different app offering more functions over the basic MF, perhaps. Think of the original MF as the Lite version.

Perhaps the app author can update here what those differences are. There is no detail of this on their website, or in iTunes store

Thanks for you thoughts

Just going by the list of features, this release is inbetween mobilefiles and mobilefiles pro. If you already have the pro version, there is no need to buy mobilefiles 2.0.

I'd imagine version 2.0 is for people that don't want to pay the extra for excel editing, but still want iDisk access and emailing features.

Interestingly, I can't get the basic MF to show up in iTunes anymore. Only two options available are v2 and pro versions.

Yes, forgot to mention that point. Obviously no further updates to Mobilefiles v1 and are forced to buy v2. Not the usual policy of apps on iTunes

The only reason I knew about this was, this morning I saw an update available (amongst others), but not get update button, whereas the other 5 did. Then the message appeared that something had changed about this app that would not allow me to update.
