Hi guys, I could use a little help or insight into some of the features.
I have a gmail account, that I have as my email for important accounts (such as gas and hydro, as opposed to website logins etc), as well as the email address I give my immediate family members and friends to get in touch with me.
I also have my school email forwarded to my gmail account, so that I don't have to constantly check that all the time.
When I first signed up for MobileMe trial a few weeks ago, I set Gmail to forward a copy of ALL mail. This was working fine, as expected. I would get a copy of the mail in my MM inbox (and on my ipod touch).
The other day I took a look at the Gmail filters options, and decided to give them a try, as I was having to go to my Gmail and manually sort mail from my parents, friends, and school into their folders (I still want my gmail to be organized for when I do need to log into it, instead of everything just being in All Mail)
The problem I noticed today was... I have a filter for anything with the subject "Quarantined Spam Messages" to auto delete (which also checks skip inbox) because my school email get emails from the spam filter service constantly.
I checked my MobileMe mail today and one of the quarantined emails was in my inbox. I checked my Gmail and the behaviour on that end was as expected. It was in the trash.
I also have a problem where I will get duplicate email (when it is not from a family member etc that I set up a filter for) in my mobile me inbox, the first copy is timestamped the same as Gmail's single copy, and the other is delayed by about 30 minutes.
I thought perhaps I had set up something wrong on the Gmail end (even though within gmail it is doing what I would like) in combination with the forwarding.
Gmail is set to forward all emails, and archive the gmail copy.
Then most filters are set so that From "person's name" applies "appropriate label". The mail is then archived, not by the filter but by the forwarding option.
I hope this makes sense. I hope to have this fixed by september so that I don't have a ton of multiple emails when school starts. I know this is a bit long, but I wanted to be sure my settings were clear. Thanks
