Hello everyone,

Yesterday I purchased a new Android handset (Xperia Play) to replace my original iPhone.

I use a MacBook Pro and iPad, so moving away from MobileMe isn't something I really want to do as I love the way everything stays in sync. I have done some Google searches etc to try and find out if there are anyways in which I can sync my contacts and iCal with an Android phone.

I have seen some desktop solutions and how to sync MobileMe to Google which in turn syncs to the phone.

I was just wondering whether anyone could offer some advice or tips on the situation to make things as easy and seemless as possible!

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am an all Apple house but work is MS Office and Blackberry and I wanted my contacts and Cal on my Blackberry and on my work Outlook. What I do is set my address book on my Mac to synch with MM (for my other devices) and added my Google account to sync to Google. Then for calendar what I did was add my Gmail calendar to iCal and set my MM calendar to publish, I copied the link from the MM calendar and added it as a subscribed calendar to my gmail calendar. This lets me see any events added to my Google calendar as well as publish events added to my MM calendar from any of my devices in Google.

Then I just downloaded Google sync for my Blackberry, that syncs the BB with the Google calendar and contacts, which in turn syncs to my work Outlook and work Outlook syncs back to the BB which syncs back to Google, which then syncs back to MM.

All works perfectly, although there is a known complaint that google only updates subscribed calendars every 6 hours, so there is a lag in making changes to your MM calendar and it showing on Google. (yet anything added to gmail shows on MM almost immediately).

I am sure some version of the above would work for you.

Thank you very much for taking the time out to respond to my post. I tried out your solution this evening and its perfect! Very pleased to have everything setup and syncing across iOS, OSX and Android! :)

Thanks again, really appreciate the help!

Glad it worked for you too!

How to Publish MM?

...and set my MM calendar to publish, I copied the link from the MM calendar and added it as a subscribed calendar to my gmail calendar.

I feel like a moron, but I can't figure out how to publish my MM calendar. In iCal it only let's me share it but that seems to be limited to MM users. Is there something else I'm missing?

Update: Found it. Go into iCal and under your calendar go into sharing settings and set it to Everyone. Once its set to Everyone. Once you set that right click your calendar and click Get Info and copy the URL from the window that opens.

Then load your google calendar in your browser and down at the bottom left click the Add drop down and select Add from url and paste the url in there. That should do it. You won't be able to edit the MobileMe calendar from google or from your phone but all your items will be sync'd. what I am doing then is creating anything new in the google calendar and when I get home or when I have access on my macbook pro I will copy it from google calendar to MobileMe and remove it from google calendar.

If you set the sharing settings to "Everyone" then isn't that calendar potentially accessible by everyone?

Yes, it's read only but still capable of being read by everyone--friends and strangers alike. What are the options if one desires to keep their calendar(s) private?

If you only allow certain users to view it they have to be MobileMe users and then it can't be view by an android device.
