MobileMe bookmark sync with Firefox?

Not everybody uses an iPhone. MobileMe can easily sync between multple computers, just like people did before the was an iPhone. Personally, I would like this capability too. Unfortunately I have never found any good way to do this even manually.
Under MobileMe Preferences / Sync / Bookmarks it only has Internet Explorer and Safari for Windows. Not sure about the Mac.
The same thing on the Mac only has a check box for MobileMe Preferences / Sync / Bookmarks (nothing is listed). The only thing on the Mac that is supported is Safari. Interesting that the Windows version also supports IE; I didn't know that.
I used to use that one for syncing multiple computers, but it was Firefox only. Since FF3 came out it has unfortunately been abandoned. I now use Foxmarks to sync my Firefox browsers, but it doesn't do anything to help keep Safari (or MobileMe) and FF in sync.
agreed...sure I can use Foxmarks but I really think Apple should add support to sync Firefox bookmarks as well as the password manager. That would be nice
The Sept '08 issue of Macworld listed several programs which can be used to keep bookmarks in sync between several browsers on your computer. So you could let MobileMe sync with Safari, and then use one of these programs to access your Safari bookmarks from Firefox. A couple of the programs listed were:

Which is crazy.
me.com barely supports IE but the sync will happily put your bookmarks into it!
Firefox on the other hand, does support me.com - but no bookmark sync.
It's really strange.
its just another trick to artificially create advantages for safari disregard the benefit of end users, marketing tactics. Apple is the master of these type of control issues.
Alternative Approach

Thus far I have found no way to sync Firefox using MobileMe and sadly all the addons which promised to do this have imploded (and I have no time to make my own).
What I needed was a way to sync everything. I have a MacBook at home, and an iMac at work, my MacBook is Leopard, my iMac is Tiger. I needed my bookmarks to stay always the same and be backed up, and I wanted my sessions to be remembered and stored so that I could access all my open tabs (and all other session data) from either computer.
I also wanted the browsers to just be the same, so that if I made any changes to settings or addons, they remained the same.
I thankfully managed to do everything.... kind of. It is a bit of a hack (ok a lot of a hack).
Bookmarks are easy - use foxmarks.
Session is actually not that hard either... particularly with MobileMe. What you need to do is download the Session Manager addon and then modify the options.
Go to the 'Advanced' tab and change the default Session folder to a folder on your iDisk.
Repeat all of this with your other computer and pick the same folder.
This will work.

Now, there is a problem. If you sync your iDisks and you have a lot of data saved there will be a delay before the update on each computer which screws everything up. If your iDisks are not synced, you're fine.
If this is a problem, I am afraid the best thing to do is to resort to Microsoft (I know, I know). They have actually created a fairly useful service called FolderShare which does not require a Windows Live account and allows you to sync folders on you computers. It is really fast and quite stable. Just set your Session folder as one on your local disk (it can be anything, the folders don't even have to be in the same locations on the different computers) and use this to sync them.

Unfortunately, to sync everything is harder.
On Macs your profile folder is saved in /Users/Mike/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxxxx.default (where the xs represent a random alphanumeric string).
You can use FolderShare to sync these directories on your two computers, and it does work, but I have found it to be buggy unfortunately.
If anyone can think of a better way to do this, please let me know. For now I am just syncing my bookmarks and sessions and only manually syncing the whole profile when I change something.

another option for firefox is plugin called weave. it was developed by mozilla labs.
They are not taking any new registrations now but there are ways around that. Basically it works of WebDAV servers. You can find free WebDAV servers that offer 2GB of space or so free of charge. I use mydisk.se
It works very well and keeps my firefox synced up between mac pro, macbook and windows.
its still in beta and buggy as hell, but it does the trick. use at your own risk

FoxMarks is great! Syncs everything together whenever you have a FoxMarks plugin installed for your FireFox plugin.
My personal favorite is All Bookmarks by Agile that someone else mentioned. Thanks again everyone for your help! Hopefully Apple will allow Firefox bookmarks to sync with Mobile Me! Or perhaps they'll create all the nifty tools that Firefox has in it's Addon's section
