I have been a mobile me user for the last two years or so, but apparently it expired last night. I didn't think I would notice because as far as I knew, I never used it. So I let it expire and now my mac mail has stopped working. I shudder to think what is going to happen to my iphone.

My question is: do you have to pay for mobile me to own a mac and iphone? I never used the picture galleries or websites or anything like that. I just want my email back! How do I run macmail with mobileme? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. I was. I deleted it from my mail, but am now having trouble setting up my xxxxxxxxx@mac.com email account. In the Add Account window I keep getting the error "The server error encountered was: The connection to the server “mail.mac.com” on port 143 timed out." How can I just set up my good old mac email that I've had for years?

You can't unless you renew your mobileme account. .Mac email is a paid service, sorry!

Thanks again for the reply. So my xxxxx@mac.com is a .mac email account? I thought for sure I had it before I ever signed up for .mac. I thought I got this email account when I bought my first mac. Dang!

You're welcome :) Yeah, unfortunately it is. If you do decide to renew it, they have the renewal codes for cheaper on amazon.com.

Thanks a million Ninja. You're a lifesaver. Can you buy the codes alone on Amazon or do they have to ship you something?

For amazon, they'll have to ship you the box with the code. It doesn't usually take too long though; I bought my last renewal through them and I think I had it within a week or so :) Although I guess you probably want to get to your email as soon as you can!

You can either get a boxed version or you should be able to renew from Apple. There maybe a chance all your email and everything else is still there, but usually your account lapses and you loose your stuff.
