Hi, I have had .Mac since the first days it started to offer 1GB of storage, and although at some points in time the service has been mediocre at best, overal I love the way it works. At this point, my parents are finally transitioning to Mac, and I wanted to upgrade my MobileMe account for them to use as well.

Right now, I have a @mac email and a @me email, though even if I upgrade my account, Apple says the 4 new subaccounts will be @me only. My dad doesn't like having his name @me.com and would prefer @mac.com (he says me sounds personal and not a good idea for business use ) So, is there anyway of upgrading my account so that the new subaccounts offer a @mac as well? I looked into getting an old .Mac Family Pack membership from ebay (a few still exist) and putting the upgrade key into my account. It would add the family pack, and since its a .Mac box not MobileMe box (and code), it SHOULD give me @mac.com as well on the subaccounts, right?

What do you guys think? I appreciate your ideas! Thanks.

I think the only people who have a @mac.com address are people who had accounts prior to the transition in July. By the same token you would have had to have a .Mac family pack subscription prior to that same date to have @mac addresses available to the members of your family. Because either .Mac and MobileMe Family Pack keys can be used to activate new or expired accounts, I don't think that will make any difference as to whether your father will get a @mac address.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I hadn't thought it about that way (that its dependant on date, not the box you use). Unfortunately, you sound ABSOLUTELY CORRECT :(
