Unless I've missed something there still isn't a native app for viewing/downloading/syncing/sharing photos from my MobileMe Gallery. Does anyone know why? Is it more difficult or even impossible to access the MobileMe Gallery from a 3rd party app? Perhaps Apple are planning their own one so aren't allowing 3rd party ones. It would be nice to be able to either sync my MobileMe photos with the native photo or another app for viewing offline, and have the ability to upload multiple photos to an album - I'm aware that I can do this one photo at a time from the native Photos app, but it's a bit of a pain, and all it does is send an email to upload each one, seems a bit primitive. It would also be good to be able to edit my gallery from the iPhone, i.e. create, delete, edit albums. And finally, I would want to view my password protected albums.

Am I alone here?

Really? i was not aware of this but i have just released a mobileMe Gallery related app https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/620886/

so i have some experience with this issue

It would be nice to be able to either sync my MobileMe photos with the native photo or another app for viewing offline, and have the ability to upload multiple photos to an album

There is a problem accessing the native iPhone Photoapp Albums. Uploading may be possible but where would you get the photos for it?
Downloading is no problem a offlineviewer is possible

It would also be good to be able to edit my gallery from the iPhone, i.e. create, delete, edit albums.

I'm not sure if that is possible but when i have time in the upcoming holidays i may take a look at it.

And finally, I would want to view my password protected albums.

this would be no problem for a native app

Apple has a very beautiful and functional web app built for mobileme galleries
but a native app would be nice as well

maybe Apple thinks that it would be duplicating functionality offered by safari
you know how they are

Thanks for the feedback. Would you be interested in developing something like this? I think it would be popular. Maybe start a thread on the MobileMe forum here and on the Apple discussion site to see how much interest you get. I for one would pay for an app that gives me offline access to my photo galleries. Maybe provide offline (cached) view of all albums with thumbnails, and an option to cache specific albums for full resolution pics?

Ok, unless I am missing something (and please forgive me if I am) this is already built in to the iPhone with the Photo app like this (or at least the way I do it, as was explained to me by all the Apple info from their site):

If you have a MobileMe gallery, those photos are uploaded via a folder in your iPhoto software on your Mac. That same folder can also be synced to your iPhone through iTunes, thus, your online MobileMe gallery should also be on your iPhone as a synced folder from iPhoto (via iTunes.)

That's the way I've been doing it. And any new photos you add to the MobileMe gallery via iPhoto will always automatically sync to your iPhone the next time you sync it. And any photos you take with your iPhone and upload to the gallery will also automatically sync back down to your iPhoto. So it would be redundant for Apple to make yet another app to do all of this when it's already handled by the iPhone's photo app and iPhoto. Yes?

Yes. But the point of MobileMe is OTA syncing, and I very rarely sync via iTunes on my mac, only when I want to change the music. So if I've edited an album on the MobileMe webapp or uploaded new photos, or someone else has uploaded photos I don't get to see it on my iPhone unless I use the (limited) gallery webapp in mobile safari - which doesn't let me view pw protected albums.

Makes sense. For now, I guess the other option would be using the MobileFiles app which allows you to access your entire iDisk right from your iPhone (and download whatever docs, music, movies or gallery photos directly to your iPhone.)
