So I have been a longtime MobileMe user. I use it primarily for 2 things:

1) iDisk (obviously this is gong away...)
2) Syncing contacts between 2 macbooks (both on 10.5.8)

I have an iPad and am looking to get a 4S. If I migrate to iCloud, will I lose my ability to sync contacts on my macbooks? As of now, I'd prefer to not upgrade to 10.6/10.7 as there are some older (rosetta) programs that I can't afford to upgrade (Aperture 2.1.1 and Adobe CS).

Thoughts?

Sorry I don't quite have the answer you're looking for but I'm also wondering the same thing. A little surprised none has taken a run at this yet. I'll have to put iCloud through the ringers on my PowerMac G4 MDD and see how 10.5 responds. Presumably you can still input your Apple ID into Address Book, iClal prefs, etc. One thing I did notice is that iTunes 10.5 requires OS X 10.5 or later. Usually if something requires special requirements, Apple will say so in release notes.

Yep - it seems to be Contacts that's the difficult one to workaround at the moment....

I did a post here just earlier - I've been trying to get the main iCloud functions set up for someone else running 10.5.8: Mail and iCal all OK using the various workarounds and tweaks to server addresses etc, but Contacts seems to be the stumbling block.....

I'm still on 10.6 myself for similar reasons of not ideally wanting to move to 10.7 due to software incompatibilities etc - fortunately I haven't migrated my own MM account yet, and probably won't now until some remaining things get ironed out hopefully.....

I take that back - I cannot get iCal working on a 10.5.8 Mac it seems...

I had presumed, wrongly I guess, that as I had got it working on a 10.6 Mac it would also work for 10.5, just like Mail did.....But I've just had feedback from the person I'm trying to help setup that it refuses the connect to the caldav server......

Any ideas ? :(
