I spoke to a customer service rep for MobileMe about half an hour ago. I thought the information he shared with me would bring some peace of mind to some folks...
- For those wanting to merge 2 iTunes store accounts: There were "over 150 calls" on this very issue today (10/13), which apparently is an "overwhelming" number. I was told to sit tight, as this type of volume on any specific issue usually raises a few eyebrows. (If you want a solution to the multiple iTunes Store accounts issue as much as I do, I would encourage you to call Apple.)
- I was told that it may be best, for now, to keep an iTunes Store account that uses the same email address, but has a different username, than your MobileMe/iCloud account.
- Some users (including me) have reported that upgrading to iCloud has prevented them from being able to upgrade OS X apps downloaded from the MAS. Apple engineers are aware of this problem and are working on a fix.
- If you are having trouble upgrading to iCloud, just wait your turn, for now.
- If you are still having trouble with iCloud Mail, be patient, as it should all be resolved soon.
The rep I spoke to sounded exhausted, like he just worked the hardest day of his life. I took sympathy on him, and tried to be as polite and understanding as possible. When all these kinks get worked out, I think iCloud will be fantastic.
