I had problems with the inconsistent data retardation when syncing with MobileMe with calendars, but I didn't have anything really on there, so I just reset everything and it's fine.

But now they're saying I have inconsistent data with my CONTACTS?!

How the hell do I recover my contacts? It's on my iPhone, and it's on MobileMe. But guess what? I can't transfer my contacts from the iPhone to my computer because it's "being synced with MobileMe", and I can't transfer the contacts from the Cloud of Fail because it cannot export, and it won't sync because of inconsistent data.

I told it to replace the data on the computer, so who cares if it's inconsistent?

Damn you, MobileMe, you are from this point on known as MobileFail.

So anyone know how I can recover my contacts?

(And one more damn you, MobileMe, before I close this post. damn your eyes Sir!!)

You might want to go for a jog around the block before you make your next post. But I agree...
I upgraded to 10.5.5 and I still get the "inconsistent data" and I can't sync my computer with my MobileMe. I've tried everything that Apple's own website and countless forums have recommended with no positive or different outcome. I'm sick of only being able to use the online apps and the phone. I bought my Mac for it's great programs, but I still can't sync it with this "great" new cloud computing service...ugh

Hey, welcome to the club guys! Waiting for Apple experts to reply with a solution.

Looks like we are being forced to "test" a product that is not even at beta stage !!!

I've been experiencing this same issue as well. Just this morning I had a MobileMe message on my MacBook saying that syncing my calendar would change more than 5% of the items on my computer (this despite the fact that I have not made any changes to my calendar for at least a week now). I reviewed all 24 items and I still can't figure out what the f**k MobileMe was doing.

I also have issues where MobileMe won't sync properly with one of my Windows PCs because MobileMe is currently syncing with another computer. What's that all about?!

MobileMe is a great concept but it flat-out does not work properly. I can't believe Apple has released such a buggy product. Not only that, they don't even offer us phone support for it. They should change the name to MobileMess because that's what it is. Just fix it already.

I only started experiencing this error *after* the 10.5.5 and the iPhone 2.1 updates. Not sure which one to blame.

Waiting for the apple experts (but they are working on that ? nobody knows ...)
i've found this solution to move my contacts from iPhone into Mac, again.
First syncronize iPhone and make a backup of iCal and Address Book (even if you've inconsistent data in them).
0 ) unregister all your Mac/Pc using preferences panel (after last unregistered appears a screen asking to delete all your address data from cloud, say yes).
1) download and install PhoneView
http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/
(you should buy the full version 20 bucks)
2) export all the contacts (i've many groups and export group by group)
3) import group by group into Address Book
4) reset data in iSync
5) register on MM one mac/pc at time
6) reset data on MM and select overwrite data on MM
7) on Iphone i've deleted mm account, turn off the phone for 30 seconds and turn on and reactivate account

now i've apparentely no inconsistent error message BUT BUT BUT the problems are still there.
For example: i've entered a contact into iPhone and after some time it disappears !

I've written really many many mails to support, Apple said it's working to fix all that ...

iPhone 3g, 2.1
try to insert in a contact this birthday date: 16 june 1969
it's not avaible !!!
only 1 june 1969
GREAT !!!
I think that these bugs in birthday calendar affect also syncronization with mobile me.
Many contacts (mostly with birthday date in it) suddelny disappear or loose many informations (for example a contact saved with multiple phone numbers suddenly loose all the phone number except one!)

Contacts Trapped in Apple Cloud

The latest version of my contacts are still in the Cloud, refusing to sync down to Outlook.

The only comfort is that it is able to sync to iPhone.

Problem now are :

1 No export feature from Cloud to a common format for import to other applications;

2 No export of the contacts hidden in the iTunes backup after syncing with iTunes.

3 Contacts synced with Cloud in iPhone disappeared when Settings with MobileMe is removed in iPhone.

4 Conacts synced with Cloud in iPhone are unable to sync with Outlook in PC via iTune due to (3).

What Apple should provide all users :

1 A program to export out the contacts from iTunes backup.

2 A service to export out the contacts at the backend to a common format and send the file to the user asap (not in a week or more!).

THEN APPLE can then take their time to solve ITS own problems. And not to forget paying those who had involuntarily helped them to test the buggy Cloud!!!

Check out my.funambol.com/

Had a similar situation. Only had 1 set of info, as i'd deleted the yahoo google etc in anticipation of syncing that from mobileme to just have a clean copy that synced.

Make sure you're in a decent signal area, and be patient. took a few times to not error /time out/sync fail on me, but eventually got the contacts. got a free outlook 2007 trial, the funambol outlook add on, then pushed the contacts over from funambol to outlook (can do the same for pushing to yahoo, or thunderbird). Saved my bacon.

Have you tried to Sync with something other the Outlook. Like Yahoo Address Book. I was using Yahoo Address Book before moving to MobileMe. Maybe you could Sync with Yahoo then from there you can export or maybe fix the problem with the data.

MobileMe has been a let down for me from day one. I can put up with the problems as I know Apple will sort it. However I am still having to manually check for email for it to get through. Occasionally it will come through on its own but not very often. I have to manually click get mail, then wait for it to check. It then says there is nothing and then about 5 seconds later (if there is something) it will come through but not ping. Then if I reply to something, when I hit send its pings!

Its weird, it works just not too well yet.

I understand what you are saying. I have had very little problems. It seems that only a percentage of customers are having problems. Hard to understand why. I just created a account for my wife. Will be interested to know if she will have same problems others are reporting. If I were in your shoes I would either just give up or try to find out what I am doing that is different the "most". Maybe scale back or something.

My setup is pretty simple. Windows Vista / Outlook / iPhone. I am not trying to Sync multiple computers. I mainly want BB type experience with my iPhone and I get that with MobileMe.

I haven't changed a thing. I had .mac working fine before then MM came along and everything went tits up.

I have a PMG5, a MacBook and an iPhone. The MacBook doesnt really come into the equation as my family use it to surf and email really. The G5 is my main comp and I use MM for email, web hosting etc and iPhone syncing. Everything seems to work, just not very well and like I said I have to manually check for email and even then it acts a bit strange. It's still not sorted by a long shot.

I continue to have all sorts of problems with MobileMe. It randomly decided to change the birthday of one of my friends from March to July to November - good thing I actually remembered the date so I could change it back. Old events that I have deleted on my iphone keep coming back to my iphone's calendar even though these events do not appear in my MobileMe calendar or my iCal. Push email is unbelievably unreliable - I find myself "fetching" my email constantly because it doesn't come in on its own. For a service that was advertised as push, I'm doing an awful lot of pulling (no jokes please;)). I can't even recommend the service to my friends and that's a very sad statement. Luckily I'm still under my free trial but I did already purchase my license (discounted heavily on ebay fortunately). Are they just going to keep adding days to our free trial until they get everything fixed or what? At this point I think that everyone who has MobileMe right now should be considered a beta tester and get a free lifetime subscription for putting up with all of the problems. This is a service that has not worked right from day one and they still don't offer phone support, although I hear they are training people as we speak.

Such a great concept but such poor execution...

No luck, tired of trying anymore! Apple promised to extract out my contacts into a file for manual import to Outlook at their end. It has been 2 days already, all in, almost 3 weeks since I contacted them. :(

Terminated MM Account at Last !

At last, got all my latest contacts out from the Cloud, no thanks to the Apple "experts".

Did it with Funambol ... my Outlook and iPhone now all synced correctly.

That's not difficult isn't it? What's the problem with MM's support ????
