I changed a couple of contact names on my address book, my iPhone and the MM Cloud... But every so often my contacts revert to what they used to be???

Does this happen to anyone else? If so have u managed to solve it?

I have something similar. For a couple people I used to have them in there as FIRST NAME only. Every now and again their LAST NAME now appears in the contact name, so obviously, I delete the last name on the iphone and my iMac address book. It's OK for a few days then to my annoyance, the full name reappears! Not sure if it's linked to their email address or what...very annoying

I'm sorry I revived this post but I had some serious frustations with this problem. I looked everywhere on the internet and I finally found a solution that worked. The names get mixed up because they are somehow linked to the e-mail addresses. You simply have to remove a file to get it to work.

Steps:

1. Quit Mail

2. Open Finder and go to Library ==> Application Support ==> AddressBook

3. Remove the file MailRecents-v4.abcdmr

4. Open Mail, the file will be created again but now the sync issues should be resolved

Hope this works for you

This issue has seriously been driving me crazy. Esp because it keeps changing my dad's contact info to "Dad Lastnamehere" :p Anyway, I tried the above suggestion just now so after he emails me a few times where it would usually get changed again, I'll check and see if it worked.

let me know if it worked ;) kept driving me crazy too.. I had this girl's number in my iPhone and I filled in her first name and her last name. But then she became my girlfriend :p.. and I edited her name into a nickname but her last name kept appearing if she e-mailed me.. so very annoying issue indeed!

Depending on how many devices you have, you might need to do a Reset to get them all back on the same page.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1497

Summary
Occasionally, syncing with MobileMe may not behave as expected. Sync may take longer than expected, you may get an alert about inconsistent data, or data may not sync successfully between computers.

When troubleshooting these situations, resetting sync data on MobileMe may be a good step to take. This clears out all current sync data on MobileMe and replaces it with the data from your computer. For example, you would not want to do this if all your up-to-date information is on MobileMe and not your computer.

After I've tried the above solution, it seems ok for a while.... but after i replied e-mails to some contacts, the problem came back again!!!

My mom is in my contacts as "mom", not surprisingly. Her last name is added every time I reply to an email. It's not exactly a solution, but when I put a ".", or any other symbol as her last name, it won't add her real last name. I find this less annoying, at least.
