Hi peeps,

My mail app has deleted everything, is now an nonfunctioning mail app. Also my MobileMe contract recently ran out, and i didn't renew it, but if i'm not mistaken that should not effect my local mail app should it?

It just seems that as mobileme has expired so has my mail app. My email address is apparently non existent (as i tried sending from another account and it was unrecognised)

If you had mobileme as your only mail service I would imagine that it would all just vanish when your subscription ends. You should be able to add a different email account into mail to make it functioning again.

Damn. OK thanks. I should have known this.

Here is what Apple says on its site:
Fifteen days after expiration, you will lose access to MobileMe Mail and any mail sent to that account will be returned to the sender.
Fifteen days after expiration, your online data at me.com will be deleted.

So if you resubscribe in the next 15 days you can keep your data it seems like. You could try and see if you could sign up for a 60 day trial.

Also your Mail.app shouldn't delete all your saved mail. maybe it just deleted your prefs file with your account info. but your mail should still be on there since it is stored locally on your hard drive as well as in the mobileme cloud. Here is a thread on that: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/138789/ /Username/Library/Mail/ should be where your mail is.
