I dont know if this has been asked but my mobile me is expiring on the 3rd of this month (june) but i dont know if I should renew or not. What would you guys suggest. Also if I let it expire and on the 6th i decide to renew it depending on the situation from wwdc will i get my old e-mail back? Will everything be lost? Or has anyones expired recently and is still up and running?

Thank you

Tough call. My understanding is there is a short window to renew after expiration before all data is lost. I would call Apple and ask to be sure, otherwise you could lose all your data.

I would just renew and not take the chance. Whatever happens on Monday at WWDC, I doubt Apple is just going to shaft customers like yourself who just renewed.

From my understand is that when they announce iCloud and Lion on Monday if you've made a purchase within the last month (30days from launch date) you can be refunded (if it's offered for free) or switch to the new plan for free. I'd make the purchase since we will know next week.

Personally I wouldn't take the chance. I'd back everything up to my laptop (or Google if you prefer) and let the renewal go until we hear what is coming down the pipe on Monday.

With all of the rumors that the new iCloud service will be free for folks who do the Lion upgrade I would wait and go that route instead of trying to haggle with Apple for a refund.

You're gambling a hundred bucks that the upgraded service will be worse then it is now. Do you think that will be the case? If so, then don't renew.

Ultimately that's the question, will the new service be worth the 100 bucks. I can't see how it could get worse. They don't offer a lot for the 100 dollars but for me inertia keeps me where I am.

Mine renews on June 21st so hopefully everything about MobileMe / iCloud will be known by then and I can figure out what to do. Surprised I even got a renewal notice considering everyone expects everything to change pretty soon after WWDC.

Kinda sucks for folks who still want/need Rosetta and apparently Lion won't offer this anymore.

Been told today that data after a mobile me sub expires is good for 30 days, after that it's scrubbed.

I could've sworn last week, my renewal date was June 3 and now it's the 11th.

But yeah I'm also wondering whether I'll be resubscribing... I mean I like the features that I use, syncing across devices and email, but don't really feel it's worth the price. Hopefully things change on Monday.

I had the same dilemma just two weeks ago. My subscription was to expire on May 20th. I went ahead and renewed with the hope that I won't get screwed when the new plan in unveiled.

At the bottom of an email about automatic renewal and my credit card:
*If your credit card fails authorization on June 21, 2011, you will have a 15 day grace period to reactivate your account, after which you will lose access to MobileMe Mail.
So I would say a 3 day wait is probably safe. Did Apple send you renewal notice emails? It should say somewhere in them what happens if you don't renew on time.

I'm just glad my renewal is after the announcement.
