Mobileme Webhosting, Godaddy domain...maintaining site from overseas.

Hi all,

I'm an novice web master who has designed a very simple website for my small biz, which is run remotely on my laptop while I travel. I have lots of questions and will appreciate some expert help.

First of all, I have designed my site in iWeb and would like to use Mobileme to host it after purchasing my own domain (something.com) from a registrar like Godaddy.

My site would allow people to fill out order forms through a iFramed Google Doc., and to upload small files to my public folder on Mobileme using a password.

So here are my questions:

1) Does this seem feasible in terms of the website's speed and functional stability being acceptable to customers? I heard Google Docs has some issues sometimes and I know me.com isn't always the fastest either. But I figure my website wouldn't get more than 10 hits per day. What do you guys think?

2)Is there a simpler way to upload files to my domain (FTP) hosted on Mobileme without using my public folder?

3)About buying domains: I heard that GoDaddy left China, but if I purchase a .com domain from them, would it be blocked by China? If so, which other registrars offer life-time domains and are reliable?

4)I want 2 email accounts with my domain. Where would I buy that from, along with the domain from the registrar or? How exactly would I go about setting them up and where?

For your purposes I would say Godaddy wouldn't be a problem at all. But since Apple does impose a low GB limit, wouldn't you better be off using a real web host? You can try, bluehost.com, dreamhost.com, hostgator.com... etc.. (just to name a few).

Since you said you were a web developer, I bet you'll need to use PHP/MySQL at some point.. I highly doubt Apple would include this apart of their iWeb hosting..

I had looked at regular web hosting sites but people seem to suggest services and uptimes are both unstable with most of them, and that doesn't really sound any better than Mobileme which I already have and works directly with iWeb. Bluehost only sell you the domain for a year then charges you every year for renewal. It just doesn't sound worry-free. With all my traveling, I really didn't want to risk having to worry about web hosts being unreliable...etc. So that's why I wanted to avoid these if I can. Should I rethink this then?

But now that you've mentioned it, how low is GB limit on Mobileme website access? How about to my public folder?

Say I get 15 customers per day who access my site, send me a 1 MB form and upload another 2 MB file to my public folder, will that be under the limit(I heard they calculate website access into the quota as well)?

I have looked at the above discussion and would like to simplify your above questions for novice web designers:

1. Which is the best web host for beginners?
2. Which of these best web hosts have friendly access to China?
3. Which of these web hosts includes a shopping cart and billing solution (and please don't say "GoDaddy!")
4. Have you heard of "LiquidWeb"? Do you like that one for beginners?
