I noticed that when I update a contact on my IPhone, it's not updating my IMac...and I am a MobileMe subscriber. I have set my MobileMe preferences on my Mac to "automatic", which is the recommended way.

Should updates on my IPhone update my Mac? That's the way I understand it works, but maybe I'm doing something wrong..?

Apple has stated making changes aren't exactly "push" therefore giving you an extension to your membership by 30 days for apoligizing.

Your mac will update to the "cloud" every 15 minutes (depends on your setting).

Any changes on the phone will be sent to the "cloud" and then synced onto your mac after 15 minutes (or whatever your sync time is).

Any changes on the cloud will send them to your phone if it's on Push, etc.. but not your Mac until after the 15 minute interval when it updates.

If I have any of this wrong, don't hesitate to correct me :)

I've read the same thing you've posted, but it doesn't seem to be working. I added a cell number in my contacts yesterday (on my phone), and it never did update my contacts on the IMac.

You also have to have sync set to automatic on your Mobile Me settings in your computer preferences.

Pushing from the cloud to your iMac should be done automatically, i.e. within a few seconds. That is how it is supposed to work, and I assure you that is how it is working for me (I just tested it again). If it's not working for you right now, that might just be due to the general problems that people are having with MobileMe. Once things get completely sorted out, pushing to your computer should be instantaneous.

As others have said, however, syncing from your iMac to the cloud will happen every 15 minutes or when you manually sync.

Edit: Does restarting your computer, or logging out and then back in help?

MobileCrap isn't pushing anything anywhere for me. I update contacts on the phone and it doesn't get updated on the server. I update contacts through the web app and it doesn't get pushed to my iPhone or my MBP. In fact, when I make changes through the web app and save, the data reverts back to what it was before.

Unbelievable.

Did you set up your phone to push from the setting on your phone?

Did it get to the "Cloud"? Use www.me.com to check the "Cloud".

If it does not get to the Cloud it won't get to your Mac. The Cloud is the Server that "Pushes to" with "Sync's with" all the connected devices.

STOP CALLING IT THE CLOUD...THAT IS SUCH A GAY WORD.

As you said, it's just a server. Can we all just agree to say "MobileMe Servers"?

"Cloud" has become a pretty standard technological term for this sort of thing (it wasn't just invented by Apple), get used to it.

By the way, typing in all caps really makes people want to take you more seriously, keep it up.

I have exactly the same problem. Mobile Me is set to automatic on my Macbook Air, Settings on iPhone set to push, contacts syncing ticked, but updating contacts on my iPhone goes nowhere. Not to the Mobile Me servers/cloud, nor to my Mac.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to make it work??

Update:

I saw where the problem was. On the iPhone, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calenders, then under Accounts, click the .mac or me.com account, then I only had mail syncing on, not contacts and calendars.

The only problem is that if I click it now, it will overwrite all the contacts currently on the iPhone that I synced to the iPhone through iTunes and added manually since. So I guess I will have to go through, add the new contacts to the Address Book on my Mac, and then I can safely set up Mobile Me Syncing.
