I'm thinking of switching over to Mobileme, I have a ipod touch, but do not have a Mac. Are there any negatives to using the service with just an ipod touch and the web interface with a PC? I hopefully will be getting a Mac in the near future but for the time being just like the though of syncing all my contacts, email, photos, and so on with my ipod touch. Thank you for any feedback.

No, it sounds fine. Obviously there are some features on the PC that you can not use like "Back to my Mac" and iWeb hosting feature, but in terms of being able to use the mail feature, you should be fine.
Back when I worked at Apple, we all got a free .Mac account. This was so we could create our own sites and demo some of the features using our personal accounts. Got switched over to MobileMe when it changed and I've since renewed.
I don't have a Mac yet either, but I'll share with you some of the things I love.
Email, Contacts & Calendar - Synchronized across my computer, my iPhone and the Web.
Setup is so easy - 1 user name, 1 password.
iDisk Backup - I use GoodSync for Windows. It's set up to automatically back up my documents, photos and music to my iDisk.
iDisk access on iPhone - Always have access to my files that are backed up to my iDisk (using Quickword + Quickoffice Files)
The other thing that I'm going to love is that when I finally get a mac, I don't have to worry about email, contacts and calendars. I'm going to enter my Mobile Me email address and that stuff will start syncing. (Don't think it does this during the setup assistant, but it would be awesome if it did).
My one gripe is that MobileMe doesn't sync bookmarks with Firefox.

I have a friend that switched from hotmail to MobileMe, has just a PC (for now). The one feature that is missing (actually had but MobileMe lost from the switch to .Mac) is Fonts and Font Sizes. He has a hard time seeing and likes to write with large fonts or change the colors in replies.

Yup...and if you use your MobileMe as your Apple ID, setup will skip over the additional steps and just plug you in. Mail will be automatically pre-configured. You will still have to chose the sync options in the Pref pane (manual vs auto) for all other sync options/applications, which makes sense because Apple figured not all users would use the sync features in the same manner. I only sync Contacts and Calendars.
Oh, and your iDisk is automatically mounted in Finder...just like a normal drive.

I use MobileMe and I don't have a Mac (yet). The web interface for mail isn't that great but I set up Thunderbird pretty easily. I sync my MobileMe Contacts with Gmail then sync my Gmail Contacts with Thunderbird.
It's a very over-complicated process but it's temporary. The integration with the iPhone is worth it. That's where I do most of my mailing anyway.

Well, I did know that if you already had an Apple ID, setup assistant would use that data, but since I've only set up 1 mac before, I wasn't sure about any syncing with MobileMe.... But enough thread-jacking.
