Sometimes I just want to create something mocked up...
ipoeppel.png

Forgive me the crude photoshopping at some parts. But you get the idea.

A hybrid between iPod shuffle and a phone. No camera
No App Store, No third party apps. All you see is all you get.

I wanted buttons for playing music and I want a phone. Texting may be difficult. Money transfer is good too.

A different design alltogether would be nice. No rounded edges.

What'ya think?

I would pay 150 for this.

To say it in a positive way: I think this shows us that you have a certain degree of creativity and the ability to express this creativity in a way everybody can see and understand your idea.

In a world with existing phones, this would assumingly fail – and you would not pay 150 for it.

But if we assume that phones do not exist at all, I can imagine that your idea is a good starting point for further development. It basically is an iPhone in the form of a, well, stick. As you already mentioned, texting might be difficult. So this would probably be the first point where Ivy Jone would create an unapologetically bigger display.

Again, you have creativity and the ability to express it with your rendering (?) skills.

Reminds me of this:

I'm going to be honest, I don't think anyone would seriously buy the thing, but I love mocking up inane items. It's fun.

I made a few mockups when I was 11. Yes, I had a very boring Easter school holiday that year and should probably have done something more productive, but hey ho. I've actually found them and uploaded them for kicks. In comparison, I'd take the iPöppel (what does that translate to?) every day of the week!

To each his own. I would. Before buying a watch for example, I rather have this little stick in my pocket... no pun intended.

That's the spirit. :) Didn't know about the iPhone Shuffle. Very similar.

I like this idea very much.
Shall I make a Kickstarter? ;)

I like it.

Reminds me of the old Nokia 7380 "lipstick" phone. It had no numeric keypad and no way of texting really.

You would? You would buy this stick over, e.g. this phone? I honestyl doubt that. I think your verdict is biased because you are defending your idea or mental property. And that is, psychologically speaking, perfectly normal.

Again, your imagination is great and your skills in mocking this thing up as a rendering is even better.

Well someone's got the wrong foot out of the bed today. It's just a mockup which I wanted to share. relax. It's not the first one ever being done, nor by me nor by others. And to answer you question, yes, I would. Not everyone is into big fancy smartphones. I like small, unimposing, practical and yewelish. Like the iPod Shuffle.
