Mockup of Most Important Future Software Update

I'm not the originator of this idea, but I think it would rock!

Here's what I'm thinking:
You turn to landscape mode and the center section becomes the keypad (press one number for speed dialing just like on every other phone). Maybe throw in a button for voice dialing (less important). On the left you have a section with your most recently dialed calls, with most recently received calls on the other side.

If Apple implemented this, suddenly almost every call you want to make is a single button push away. If it's going to be a phone, make it work for actual phone use!!!

Probably one obvious improvement would be to have buttons going across the bottom on the sides so you could get to the different list available in the other call section.

What do you guys think?

Edit: could someone post the image to this thread, I'm not quite sure how to make it show up reliably.

EDIT#2: Please compare the first image with my second draft, which I consider to be a much better implementation of the idea.

Looks good for a rough draft!
If it's speed dial then surely pictures or icons for certain people would be better seeing as this is the most versatile interface around.

Thanks! Pictures would be cool, but wouldn't fit in as weel with the sleek UI (I'm imagining the actual implementation of this idea will be much sleeker).

Ok, I've worked on this a bit more, and I think I've made a pretty drastic improvement. The lists really don't work all broken up like that, just leaves too little space. Instead, we'll put the keypad all the way on the left (better for thumb dialing) and the full list on the right with buttons beneath for each of the options on the bottom of the normal keypad screen (excluding keypad of course). MOST IMPORTANTLY, the Home Landscape screen will remember which of the 4 lists you had up the previous time you used it, OR, as an option you can set it to always load to the same one each time (e.g. always bring up missed calls if most of what you do is answer calls).

Please take the time to look at my improved implementation right here and tell me which you prefer.

Give me some feedback, and I'll try to make a mockup of your ideas (or a mockery of them if I think they suck).
