I think you've got the right idea. For a screen that small, poke and swipe would be about the only control options. You also need a way to get to playlists/genres/artists/albums etc. I think swipe up/down makes sense. Swipe vertically then choose a category by swiping left and right. Swipe up again for settings.

Do we suppose this new nano is iOS based? What if that itty bitty screen was high resolution? 320x320 would be about 270 dpi at 3cm, very impressive. Open it up to the app store and you could have a whole series of games that could be reasonably fun.

I think it will run iOS-but not one even close to what were use to. And apples good about keeping things simple, and I think this is going to be very simplified in every way. It will be more like a 3rd gen shuffle with touch controls and a screen.

Why did everyone assume this was the new Nano? Thought it would have been obvious it's the new Shuffle replacement.
Retarded..

Pretty close to my mockup. But I personally think the bezel/black border will be thicker. Look at the current Nano model, you'll also notice a pretty thick border around the screen. Also it's a touchscreen and you just can't put anything above to border to cover it without making the touchscreen go "into" the device. I hope, you get what I mean.

I think the shuffle should be dropped once this comes out. But I saw in a report today that such is not the plan.

Dude. Two Words. Awesome mockup. It looks really awesome, I just don't think Apple will down size the nano to that small w/o a camera and a smaller screen. Possibly for a shuffle.

Great mockup. Would LOVE this to happen IF it replaced the Shuffle or made a whole new iPod OR was an iWatch :D

The nano won't get replaced with this IMHO. Taking so many features out for so little back? No.

The 59/79 dollar price point would be obliterated if this is a shuffle.

The nano would look absolutely stupid with those volume buttons on top.

That is a good mockup!

I hope it looks like that tomorrow. 2G Shuffle was an excellent design with the clip and placement of inputs. I'm not sure it will be that slim, though: close, but a little thicker. With the battery in there, they won't have much of any function going on in that tiny thing. Maybe 4GB or 8GB, MAYBE video, but nothing much more. Expect battery span of 8 hours.
