First and foremost I am a first time Mac user and owner.

When I say modding, I specifically mean applying OTHER peoples mods to Windows games, running off of bootcamp. I'm interested in running New Vegas in particular, and was wondering if there are simple and direct steps to follow in applying mods to a Mac via Windows. Also, as a side question, is modding as a whole done the same for each game, or is it a game by game basis?

If models matter, I have the early 2011 15 inch.

I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction, or a flat out full how to would surely do the trick. I've google searched a while and all I find are confusing and some what daunting explanations on the subject.

Appreciate any of you Mac Experts time.

when you run Windows.. its just like any other WinPC... there is no difference in programs you can run or how you mod them.

Hm, ok. I swear I was reading that to apply mods to a Mac it took some special effort, like adding certain files, special code, and so on. But if what you say is true, I'll have to just try it. That brings me to my next issue though, I've never modded anything to begin with, haha. I just thought I could skip the Windows only method considering it'd be on a Mac. XD

But thanks for the info. I'm sure there are simple how to guides on simply modding for games on the net.

FNV is pretty easy to mod, but some mods do sometimes give a performance hit.
Head over to newvegasnexus.com for all the mods you'll ever need!
Be sure to get some radio mods or you'll get crazy after hearing Johnny Guitar for the 27th time in two days :)

I'd also get a better 3rd person Camera mod, since I found the 3rd person cam in FNV do be limiting.

maybe you was reading about hobby porting.. actually running Windows software on Mac OS X without Windows, which when you do modding in those does take some special steps. People hack apart Cider ported games to get them to run different games... people use Crossover based hacks to make ports, and Wineskin is used to, which was started as a legal way for anyone to be able to port their games themselves. but... if you are just running Windows, its like any other Windows PC.

My guess is that you were looking at information on how to apply mods for cross platform games to the OS X version of the game, not the Windows version. For example, there are some Portal mods (such as Portal: Prelude) that require a lot of tweaking to run properly on the OS X version of Portal, but if you do all of your gaming through Windows 7 booted natively via bootcamp, then your Mac is just like any other Windows PC, and Windows will run exactly as it normally does.
