Anyone else run into trouble with the moderators of the apple community?

I have run into problems with apple family sharing. It does not work if your family member is from another country.

I tried to bring it to attention in the community but was gunned down by the moderators. Last deleted message was this one:

“If I buy something I am not allowed to share with a foreigner? In real life that does not make sense.. even then name hints “family sharing” so I should be able share with family no matter what country.

I think it is just easiest for apple to do it this way but that does not make it right”

Can anyone see a reason to delete this post?
The post is in the right catagory and does not contain bad language.. it is simply my answer to a poweruser/moderator that was trying to make it a no brainer that i could not use family sharing with a foreign family member.

I’ve never been a registered user of their forum, but I’ve heard this same complaint many times over the years.

Apple has their reasons, no matter how unseemly, and they quash anything they don’t like.

It’s the world as Apple wants people to see it. Today’s Apple surely isn’t the Apple of 1984.

I don't post there, but I have seen people comment here about that issue. My take on it is Apple does not want posts like yours that are just a complaint with no real tech support question included.

I'm not defending it, I'm just saying that is why I think they remove such posts.

Apple has a feedback link where you can ask for features like this to be added.

I have a family member in another country. Not sure what isn't working for you?

I bought them an iPhone here, set up their iCloud account, added it to the family, then they took it back to their country and use it back there all the time.

The iPhone is on my Verizon plan so when they're in their country they keep it in airplane mode with WiFi calling active. Then when they're here they use it normally.

They're sharing iCloud Drive storage space, any purchases they make is under our family plan, sharing paid apps, sharing Apple TV purchases, etc...

Probably worked for me because I set it up here in the USA, then my mother in law took the phone with her back to her country? She has a tourist visa so she spends time here now and then.

This can be problematic if that person is from a country which has widely used and useful apps not available outside of their home market. Mostly banking apps etc.

Personally I think Apple need to break down family sharing to allow it to be used in the way OP suggests. I understand certain things have licensing issues (itunes purchases, apple music) but other aspects are universal. Disable sharing of itunes purchases if necessary, charge the "higher" rate for apple music in the case of one of them being in a cheaper country (eg China) - but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater and not allow things like shared "find my iphone" or icloud drive.

Is it because my mother in law is in Peru? Find my iPhone works for her - I can see her phone 4,000 miles away in Peru along with my wife here in California - and she's using iCloud Drive storage (family shared). I see her space increasing as she takes photos/does backups.

I see your point - would be nice to have this more pronounced.

What really got me was how many more shows you can see on Netflix in Peru vs here in the USA. It's a LOT more. lol. We share a Netflix family plan and she has access to a lot more than we do here, lol.
