It looks like apple will be keeping the old 10.5 inch around, and perhaps will use the same design for the 12.9 as they did for the 10.5, and both will get a dpec bump.

I am hoping for a new ipad “x” model around 11.3-11.7 inches with smaller bezels, no huge chin and forehead, all screen with faceid that is just a little bit bigger than the current 10.5.

And after a year of 2 make the 10.5 the budget model like the current 9.7 2017 ipad, and drop the 12.9 or release anotjer bigger model of the ipad “ X”

Looks like another opportunity for Apple to jack up the starting prices on Pro models.

Unfortunately, that was what I was thinking when I read the headlines. This seems to be the "Apple way" now when they redesign a device. Not cool!

I actually doubt a super-high priced “iPad X” model. Apple’s been finding that’s a lineup that doesn’t have a resounding success. I expect them to keep prices relatively where they are and just make an edge-to-edge LCD screen update to the line.

I think that iPhones used to be a good indicator of where iPad is going, but in the past few years we’ve seen iPad largely make its own path and actually lead iPhone in some cases (TrueTone). Even though they’re giving it the same “Modern iPad” moniker in iOS I don’t think it means that it has to follow iPhone X’s lead.

Sounds about right and what I hope for. 12.9 is too big 10.5 too small. The 10.5 chassis (perhaps a bit larger) can easily handle a 11.3 screen. The 11” MBA is my all time favorite machine.
