iPhone Modify lockscreen without winterboard or springtomize?

I've had issues in the past few days with both springtomize 2 and winterboard, and this is all I want to do:

Remove the black shadow banners around the time on the lockscreen and the "slide to unlock" box (but keep the slide to unlock interior and camera icon)

Ideas? "Clear lockscreen" only removes the clock. Sorry, this is my first jailbreak.

Does DreamBoard drains the battery as much as WinterBoard ? I haven't installed WinterBoard since iOS 3 because the battery life was awful.

Must just be you. Winter board has no effect on the battery.

No. Hold volume up button when rebooting, this will load the phone in safe mode. Then remove the tweak causing the issue.

I've installed/ used WinterBoard as far back as my iPhone 3G/ IOS 3.1 and never had issues with it... Guess I've just been lucky? I suggested DreamBoard because it is a light weight alternative to WinterBoard... I still prefer WinterBoard because it lets you mix and match to create a more personal theme...
